at this point in his career Ward has to fight fighting actively and proving. And it is Froch who is the one fighting everyone.
Even if Ward traveled to Europe and fought Froch and Kessler at the same time it still wouldn't be enough for some people.
Of course not. Because the hate really isn't about him not traveling, but morsel because he either beat their favorite fighter, is the best in the division, is black, from America or a combination of all of that. Basicly fake ass fans he need excuses because they don't have the balls to post their real reasons.
A lot of fighters are doing the Mayweather thing. Fighting to protect a record and getting all the advantages set before signing to fight. Ward saying he won't fight in UK. Hagler won his first title in UK vs. Minter, and he fought in Italy against Fully Obel, although Obel was from Venezuela, he still fought some amount in Italy. Some fighters like Ward don't realize that the public starts to resent that type of attitude and the fighters pay for it in pay per view sales eventually. This is why Floyd is hurting boxing by setting new precedence for the stars. I will fight this guy if he fights here and weighs in at this weight. Ray Leonard started it and it continued. The weigh-in a day before the match should be stopped and should happen on the day of the fight. So you have Ward playing games and saying who he will fight and where , and then you have guys like Froch who fight everyone regardless of the risk and the fans appreciate them more. I remember back in 1990. My friend was at a fight where Thomas Hearns and Ray Leonard were at. Thomas Hearns was cheered and Ray Leonard booed, and these guys won titles near the same time and had parellel careers with superfights and all that by 1990-they were both big superstars. But the fans knew Ray was not being fair to them and was selfish trying to dictate terms to get wins or 2 titles in one night.
JAB,it ain't like that for every Froch fan.I became a Ward fan AFTER he beat Froch, but in the RBR,I asked how long it would be before people came on slagging Froch after he'd just put on a great fight and the volcano erupted right away. Most of us know Ward still wins, but want to see the fight, but if you have the usual suspects coming on within minutes to say Froch was **** after a fabulous fight, you know how it's gonna end up. And for the record,Ward is as white as he is black. It's just the race baiters on both sides who make his colour an issue. Bottom line is,Ward is the best, but the same bullshitters who don't have a problem with Floyd being in the check cashing business( rather than legacy building, and I'm a Floyd fan) don't have a problem with the fact that Ward generates no money or interest, even in his own country.
Maybe so, but he'll rank higher when all is said and done. Ward is one of the more dominant champions in the sport, don't see him getting beat anytime soon.
Maybe its personal preference and Ward just puts a lot of people off? I know its the problem for me and i usually really enjoy highly technical fighters. Before his opposition went to hell i stayed up late (me being European) to watch every Mayweather fight as well. There is something about Ward that makes me dislike watching him, i can see what hes doing and the technical skill behind it but its just so ... often times ugly and boring. Even Hopkins could make ugly fighting quite skillful but when Ward is headbutting away its just hard to watch. Great fighter but i doubt ill put in any effort to watch his fights unless he faces someone truly worth it.
