I'm not so sure I buy all the 'Bute wasn't invited' to the Super 6... His promoter should have been banging the door down to get him in rather than waiting for a phone call and even if the fact he was signed to another TV network stopped him coming in at the start he had two other opportunities to force his way in when Taylor and Kessler dropped out. If Bute had really pushed it the demand to have him included would have forced Showtime's hand. The reality is it suited Bute to sit back and wait for the winner (which most people would have done too so I don't necessarily disagree with his decision), but that means he has to accept being considered as number 2 or 3 until he beats the winner. In my opinion, Ward and Froch have done the hard work - they get the credit and the spoils.

hershman said it himself why he was not invited, and in no way wher the 6 best boxers invited, it was about making it as easy as possible in the sence of having the least promoter involved has to simplafy things, now that being said i agree with most of your post, as long as nobody claimes being the best at 168 untill the winner faces bute.

Neither winner will face Bute......they've both clearly stated Bute is not on their radar.
Instead Bute SHOULD step in for the injured Kessler and fight Steilgitz. BY taking the WBO strap out of the picture, Bute can defend those two belts vs mandatories and force Ward/Froch to him......

Seems the only way, WE, the fans are gonna get Ward or Froch to step UP and fight him.:-(

I owe an apology to aliviu emilian.

For the record, I don't think Ward will duck Bute. In the lead-up to the S6 Final, he's repeatedly said that winning the trophy means nothing if he doesn't intend do bigger and better things.

I must have missed something along the way.

Where have Froch and Ward said they wouldn't fight Bute?

Well, he opened the door and kind of invited them in. WHat would you expect?

Haven't you been reading the different sites? Both have clearly stated that Bute is not the fight they want.

When Bute was cleared of his HBO contract, Showtime negotiated to have Bute enter the tournament as a replacement, but it was the Ward and Froch camps which stopped his entry and allowed Greens and Johnsons.

You can't possibly expect to see a quote of Ward or Froch saying "I am deathly afraid of Lucian Bute, and I will never fight him because I don't want to be KTFO or forced to run for 12 rounds.":-(

I honestly was never aware of this. Do you have any links? Preferably not the Scene of Boxing. That website's given me a few viruses in the past. I'm at work and my ability to freely roam the internet to find quotes and articles, aren't available at the moment.

    None of this makes sense.
Was it written for a Siberian audience?

That's because none of it is based in reality.

Why is it clearer now than it was before?????

Can you honestly see Bute fight Ward in jOakland anyway? Of course not. For Bute it's homefield or no fight.

Bute was clearing his name up and rematching Andrade on HBO when the S6 was set up. Check.

Ward & Froch both said Bute is unproven, as a matter of fact fukkin Anthony Dirrell just told the Scene that. Check.

Andre Dirrell publicly said he wanted a shot at Bute, and is tuning up vs a southpaw late Dec. Check.

Ward highly respects Dirrell, Froch thinks he dominated Dirrell. Dre Dirrell qualifies as "S6 opposition" more than Johnson does, if you want to stretch things up. Check.

I think Bute's road to Froch/Ward goes through Dirrell. Spring time, while the S6 finalists battle it out once again. Then it's mando time for all champs, and after that we'll get a Froch/Ward vs Bute or Kessler unification. Late 2012, early 2013. Don't care who fights who in those 4, just saying same time next year will be where Ward/Froch mix it up with Bute/Kessler.

    My $0.02.

Can you honestly see Ward fight Bute in Canada anyway? Of course not. For Ward it's homefield or no fight.
