I hate to say it, but there's truth in this. I'm not sure if Ward gets KO'd, but he was out of gas and fading and Kessler was starting to find the range. This was a SH*T fight in its second half, a joke and an embarrassment to the sport and the tournament.
Look at your ****ing avatar muttling. :rofl You have the king of akwarndess and lack of power...not to mention that Ward made the **** look easy while Calzaghe was getting tagged.
Seems like Kessler cant deal with awkward boxers that ducks, clinches and/or headbuts and holds. It seems like its not even in his arsenal, he is too clean. It is a weakness that you has to depend on the referee seening/stopping theese things. Kessler is a veteran in the game, and should be use to this by now. Dissapointing!
the only thing you could say was: 1-kessler was affected by the headbutts as he said he couldn't see anything due to the blood 2-Kessler lost his chance to KO ward but as has been stated there wasn't much of that possiblity being shown - we don't know how much of that was due to the 2-5 butts Ward is champ but lets see for how long
Lets be fair, Ward was simply better tonight and Kessler showed some limitations. I'm not suprised that Kessler was cut because Ward was charging in at times looking to hold. Yes, the cuts and holding were a factor as was the ref. But Ward was putting a beating on Kessler from the get go.
Kessler was nothing but a hype job he was never **** to begin with. I never saw it. He's just a basic fighter with no special effects and a cool tattoo that's it. He was exposed tonight for his inability to adjust and deal with speed.
As a fan of Kessler, I predicted he would win. And yes the FIVE 'accidental' headbuts were a factor. The holding was to be expected and was within reason. I predicted Ward would win the first few rounds before Kessler got him figured out. It's possible that might have happened if Ward's reckless use of the head had not come up. However, I have to give Ward kudos for a very good performance. I believe Kessler had an off night for whatever reason, and, as I said, the two massive cuts caused by Wards head played some role, but Ward was dominating throughout the fight. I scored it 98-92 for Ward and felt that Ward was the better fighter tonight. I would now have to shift my pick to win the tournament from Kessler to Ward. He is technically the soundest fighter out there. Mikkel might figure him out or do things differently, if they meet again, but it's not likely. Ward may have a bit of trouble with AA, but if he avoids his power, he should be able to do what he did tonight to a better fighter. Congratulations to a new star on the block. Congrats to Rummy on his pick !
I've already given Ward his dues in this thread, but there were FIVE 'accidental' headbutts and at least TWO of those accidents were on purpose. Don't think it changed the outcome though.
