I'm not Pugi's biggest fan but we have all done it. I didn't expect Froch to do this well and admittedly I expected AA to do better.
I forgot my Kessler predictions, mostly because I forgot about how highly I rated Kessler pre-eye problems. Ward is a much better fighter than I gave him credit for but I still say the Kessler that showed up and beat Mundine would have handled Ward and I think a fit/healthy Kessler would still handle Ward. I also misjudged the chin Froch has, the guy gets absolutely pummelled in fights and I thought guys like Kessler and Abraham would likely have too much for him, he's a better warrior than I gave him credit for but not a better boxer. Look at my other predictions. AA vs Jermain Taylor - Late KO - Correct. Froch vs Dirrell - Either Dirrell by UD (the common consensus decision) or Froch KO - Correct prediction, judging was terrible Kessler vs Ward - Wrong, Ward was a better fighter and Kessler wasn't the guy I thought he would be AA vs Dirrell - Wrong Kessler vs Froch - Decision win, again, under-estimated Froch's chin although Kessler certainly landed just about as much as I thought he would. Ward vs Taylor - Never eventuated Ward vs Dirrell - Never eventuated Abraham vs Froch - Wrong prediction, Froch's chin and Abraham's lack of ability to find him consistently proved me wrong Kessler vs Taylor - Never eventuated Abraham vs Kessler - Never eventuated. ---- So, like everyone else, I slept on how good Ward was and also made my predictions without the knowledge that Kessler had an eye problem that would require him to get surgery post Froch. 3 right (if we include Dirrell) 3 wrong Not the worst predictions that far out considering it was made before the first punch of the series was thrown. I would have re-arranged my thoughts on Abraham vs Froch seeing the performances.
Pugi claimed in another thread that he had only made one wrong prediction (Taylor-pavlik) in the last few years.
My God you're delusional or just stubborn, just admit that Calzaghe win over Kessler was in fact very good but not the great win that you Calzaghe fans made it out to be. And please don't try to act as if your opinions don't have to do with your man love for Calzaghe and trying to make him better.
Make that two - Ward vs Kessler is a wrong prediction although I didn't have the knowledge of Kessler's eye problem. The other fights? Forecasting fights that far out without seeing what happened in the first fight are hardly predictions, they're forecasts based on current information. In those cases, I couldn't really analyse the most recent performance, nor see how the first set of fights happened. The first set of fights, Ward vs Kessler, I got wrong - the other two, I had pretty much spot on. My predictions would have changed following those fights, more information to analyse. Find any place where I've wrongly predicted a fight that can be properly analysed outside of Pavlik vs Taylor and Kessler vs Ward.
Being that Kessler came back and won against Froch and is about to win another title against Stieglitz, it's really not about plumping up Kessler to plump up Calzaghe, 46-0 plumps itself up. Kessler was favoured to win this tournament prior to it starting, because he had shown a solid all round skill set and mixed it with elite fighters, something none of the other fighters in the competition could claim. In 2009, when these predictions were made, everyone was riding Calzaghe for a sloppy performance against "an absolutely shot, old man Hopkins who can't do it anymore" - What's changed since then? What happens when Hopkins handles Dawson? That's the avenue of time, fella.
What information were you missing regarding AA - Dirrell (you predicted KO by AA)? Putting that aside, I still wouldn't believe your claim of virtual boxing omniscience.
I actually respect that you didn't outright deny that your shitty opinions have to do with your man love for Cazaghe. And yes Kessler WAS favored to win the tournament but hindsight showed when he got schooled by Ward that he shouldn't have been just like hindsight shows that Hopkins wasn't shot against Calzaghe, not that I felt either man deserve to win that fight but that's another topic all in itself. And Kessler getting a win over Froch after losing to Ward shows that his so called eye problems ain't as bad as you try to pump it up to be but you're predictable like most Calzaghe dick suckers and will try to say how Kessler of the Calzaghe fight would have dominated Froch with no problems but everybody knows that's pure bull**** agenda talk that simply ain't true.
How poorly AA performed against Taylor, How elusive Dirrell was and unwilling to engage in the fight against Froch, I certainly wouldn't have predicted a KO. 9 times out of 10, you give me a fight where I can analyse the styles, recent performances and both fighters are known to be fully healthy and I'll get the result right. Which is why the only evidence you found (trying to dig up predictions) of me getting something wrong was this thread, where I predicted a two year tournament worth of results before the first punch was even thrown.

Thing is, since time elapsed, we've seen Ward become one of the top rated fighters in the world, let alone at SMW. He was heavily under-rated prior to this tournament yet you still see me giving him props for his skill set and comparing him to an ex-champion in Mundine at a time where everyone felt Kessler would steam roll him easily. Kessler hasn't looked the same since his loss to Calzaghe, he took time out and then came back rusty, he hasn't thrown the jab with the authority he once did and his ability to keep the distance has suffered. Andrade rushed him for twelve rounds solid trying to get on the inside and bury his head into the face of Kessler but through the jab and footwork, Kessler held him off. I still maintain a fully fit Kessler beats Ward on current information, especially if Ward isn't allowed to hit and hold as much as he did in their fight. But props to Ward, he's become one of my more favoured fighters during this tournament. As for Kessler vs Froch, Kessler dominated the clean boxing exchanges with one good eye against Froch. It was in the dirty boxing and late in the fight where Froch had a chance. When Kessler controlled the distance with his jab, he dominated Froch even with Froch's notable reach advantage. Kessler then forgoes his title belt, spends a year on the sidelines recovering from surgery that threatened to end his career and gives up his place in the Top 3 of the competition with a potential rematch against Ward? If his eye injury wasn't serious, why would he do that?
The funniest thing here is how some of you expect that I wouldn't show to this thread nor mount an argument against you in it. Even in this thread I showed an ability to see deeper than most in regards to the likely result scenarios.
