Ward Would Fight Mayweather at 160 but Wouldn't Fight Dawson At 175

Dawson wasn't someone worth moving up in weight for, he was moving down because he had no options in his own division. Why the hell would Ward move up for him? atsch

 

I just highlighting the fact that Ward knocking out Bute would not be a certainty making the fight more interesting as it would more then likely come down to a question of ability. While I'd still have Ward winning a close decision it would've been a good match up and one of the best at 168

Johnson was a late sub to the S6. If Bute had beaten Froch, I'm sure it would have been a fight we'd have seen.

 

And it still may happen. As long as Bute keeps himself relevent at 168.

 

I agree with you that Johnson was drained at 168, everyone knows he was best at 175. Doesn't he have like 18 losses at 168?

As Bute-Ward post Froch, we can only speculate as to what would have happened

It was a legit win no doubt,but to suggest Dawson wasn't drained is absolutely ludicrous.
The man who trained him surely carries more credibility than anyone else surmising here.

Bute was headed for Floyd's spot with that win and Ward was just a fly that needed to be swatted.

 

I don't know how badly Johnson was drained, if he was. Too many posters just assume anyone is drained going down in weight. Sure, can be the case, but isn't automatic.

Like I said, if Bute makes himself relevent at 168, I'm sure he'll eventually get the fight.

Turbotime is a good poster,and he knows fine well that the reason that fight never happened was because the plan was for Ward to have a softer homecoming money fight,and at that time Bute had every right to demand parity deeming him unsuitable for what Ward had in mind.

But no one(except those of us who know what time it is) bargained on The Cobra.:!:
And now Ward/Bute looks like a brutal mismatch,but some people like to hang onto the fact that Ward said no for financial and logistic reasons,except they spin it into a duck,just like Leonard "ducked" Pryor,even though he actually didn't.
