Ward would have beaten Calzaghe easily

can't say I agree, joe was a better inside and outside fighter. ward is good but I see joe overwhelming ward and winning a fairly wide ud.

joe actually HAD power when he tried to hit hard, he just had the Floyd hand syndrome towards the end of his career, also calz had a far better chin. he could be knocked down but only flash knock downs, never seen joe legitimately hurt..

    65/35 fight for me

Calzaghe was good but his only epic win was over Hopkins and he only took that fight thinking Bernard was past it (which hes proven since is not the case). Andre Ward is Supremely Talented and people should appreciate having him around

Ward is elite, Calzaghe was good but not on that level, he could beat the likes of Kessler and go 50/50 with a past prime Hopkins but anything above that and obviously he loses, and Ward is above that level. Clear UD for Ward, with Calzaghe nicking one or two later rounds but not much more.

Wards best win is arguably Mikkel Kessler so what does that say about him

    And?

He can only fight who there is in the division, plus a green, inexperienced and huge underdog Ward totally schooled Kessler in a way that Calzaghe could only dream of, he also schooled Froch with one hand. If you think Calzaghe is better than Ward then you don't have a clue what it is you are looking at when you watch a fighter, simple as that.

There is no debate to be had on who is the better fighter for anyone who has any clue about the sport.

    Based on what?

Kessler had a good run at 168 prior to being beaten by super Joe. Then he had another good run prior to being beaten by Ward.

By the time he fought Froch he was starting to slip but still won. He was semi retired by time their rematch came round.

Regardless of wether it's Froch or Kessler the fact remains Calzaghe beat a better Kessler than did Ward and Kessler is one of Wards best if not best win. And old Bazzo Smitho claims Ward is elite while Calzaghe Isn't due to the fact that in his own words Calzaghe isn't on Wards level due to Kesslers of this world.

I know what I see with my own two eyes, I remember telling people that Ward was going to school Kessler and the Sun reading, knuckle dragging Calzaghe fanboys laughed and said Kessler gave Saint Joe a tough fight so must be some ATG and would KO Ward. Of course these idiots were totally wrong because they don't understand boxing.

Froch didn't get his **** absolutely pushed in to a stoppage against Ward like Kessler did.

Kessler thought he was going to kick Wards ass and ended up tapping out in his corner for the only time in his entire career.

Kessler's win over Froch was a very dodgy decision he got in his home town. Froch beat him clearly in the rematch.
Froch has one clear victory. Kessler only has the one home town cooked decision.
That alone says Froch is a better win than Kessler.

Froch also has wins over current champ Abraham.
Taylor who is fighting for the IBF SMW title next week.
Two wins against Groves who will very likely become a world champion.

What has Kessler done since his loss to Calzaghe 6 years ago? Nothing:patsch

Froch is a better win for Ward and its nit remotely close.

SRL rates Calzaghe as "one of the greats" but his opinion only counts if he's criticising fighters it seems.

It doesn't matter who you think wins this match up as we'll never know what would have happened. What we can be fairly certain of is that it would be easy work for either man.

I agree 100%. The Hopkins fight showed Calzaghe's limitations: chasing shadows, ineffective flurries, ludicrous showboating. I couldn't stand watching Calzaghe's sloppy, slappy efforts.

He'd have been splattered by Toney, Jones and McCallum in their primes.

Just said Calzaghe was not an infighter had to stop reading. The truth is nobody knows for certain how it would go but I very much doubt Ward does what Froch did to Bute as Calzaghe had incredible punch resistance, great stamina, great work rate, very fast, very awkward and Ward isn't exactly a big puncher.

TS is basically an idiot who doesn't know a lot about boxing.

So with what you are saying is that Ward has had no epic wins as his best win is a faded Calzaghe leftover  and you are obviously not ofay with Calzaghes career to make such a silly statement

You are entitled to your opinion, but what top undefeated fighters has Ward beaten for you to draw that conclussion?
Ward was in a tough close fight with fatigued already beaten by faded Kessler Froch
