I think you're right. First fight was fantastic, but whilst guts and fitness kept Wardley in the fight I think Clarke would've come away kicking himself that he didn't put it beyond the judges capacity to dictate the outcome. Don't be absurd. Sugar Ray Wardley is too accomplished to be compared to any past fighter.
I knew there was a classic missing but it would not appear in my brain at the time. Sugar Ray Wardley is the man.
I’m not sure Clark’s main problem was that he abandoned his boxing fighting Wardleys fight and if he just gets behind his jab and boxes he’ll get the victory. Can see the logic in that like, but it was Wardleys power, intensity and unorthodox style that forced him to not be able to just box his own fight. Change my mind each day but gonna get off the fence and go Wardley late stoppage
This. The state and fragility of Fabio’s nose is a concern. If Clarke has better conditioning this time around and applies his fundamentals, I think he takes the rematch.
No you're right, BUT there were times in the fight when Clarke did get his jab going, and it looked like a different fight.
Could go either way but I worry for Clarke's fitness/stamina. I think Wardley will have more in the tank going into the championship rounds as the naturally lighter/more athletic of the two. He's also got the better pedigree/experience out of the two. I'm going for a Wardley late KO in an exciting and close fight.
A sign of a great competitive fight about to happen is when posters cannot agree on the outcome. We need more of these match ups, both domestically and internationally.
I could not agree more. Surely one of the fights of the card, and I'm not a massive heavyweight fan, but the sparks will almost certainly fly with this one!
yeh watched the head to head thing what ver it called and it looks awful like it’s open if you flicked it, starting to waver and thing Clarke could get technical stoppage
of course mate, but there were times when he looked like he couldn’t handle the intensity of wardley. Can make valid arguments for both what makes it a great match up
Which is why the fight game needs more of these kind of contests. Listen, a lot of people on this forum really know their onions, but if nobody can really pick a winner, even after 12 rounds, that shows what a terrific fight this is. And I like both guys
