Must be to completely spoil the match. No way do I see him being able to outbox Mikkel from a technical standpoint. Not writing this ´cause I´m danish, but I´ve just seen Wards fight against Miranda (who is no class act in my opinion). He gets away with being way to open only since Miranda is to busy parading and putting on a show rather than following up on several oppotunities to land direct punches after having broken through Wards guards. Kessler wont be making that mistake. If I were Ward i´d be rewatching the Calzaghe vs Kessler over and over again. Herein lies the answer. Kessler is, again i my opinion only, the better boxer in terms of routine, power, technical skills and upperbody movement. I rate speed skills as pretty even. However Kessler may have lost to Calzaghe in a majority of rounds, bu did he really get hit that much? Sure he took a beating through parts of the fight, but really it also came down to number of punches thrown by Calzaghe. Check the stats if You disagree, and compare thrown punches to landed punches. I´m not gonna cry about hometown referees. I really don´t see Showtime risking the integrity of the Super Six by pulling a result out of their sleeve that would not only kill off the integrety of the tournament and the viewing on boxing in general. Wards chance is to throw a hell of a lot more punches than Kessler, avoid the jab, 1-2 boxing and the right hand of Kessler, while remembering not to let his one hand down guarding. If Ward can do that, and still manage to to keep his stamina for 12 rounds this might be his chance. If not, i reckon that Kessler is too big of a challenge. Kessler doesn´t get hit often, and throwing punches without hitting tires. And 36 minutes is a long time if You run out of air or ideas. Hope for a great fight tonight (for some of You), and early tomorrow morning (for some of us). Regardless of post I still have Kessler to win it by a round 8 or 9 KO/TKO.
No way Ward is gonna stop Kessler, I think he has a good chance of outboxing him tho, maybe in a close (maybe even a little controversial) decision.
I can't see Ward standing in front of Kessler, if he does he gets hurt. Wards best chance is to keep moving & try 2 catch Kessler on the way in with fast combo's then move/smother. Kessler couldn't really stop Calzaghe tying him up. I think if Ward tries to outwork Kessler it will backfire & he'll get hit with big counters
I want Kessler to win to set up the unification with Froch in the next round... He should have the experience, strength and power to pull it off. But for some reason, I'm getting a gut-feeling that Ward will find a way to pull the upset and get the Yanks on the board. Hope I'm wrong.
I would say the hand speed is about even, if not in Kesslers advantage. His speed is very underrated and one of his biggest strengths.
This maybe the most nonesensed post I have ever read on this site. You do understand that fighters fight differently vs diferrent fighters dont you??? Plus lets keep in mind that is the same Miranda that Kessler shamelessly ducked. Ward is a better pure boxer then Kessler, so why would he need to spoil the fight??? He is more complete, the only question is how will he handle being on the big stage?? And how good is his chin, if the anwser to those questions are anywhere from ok to good then Ward will win the fight.
He went for a world championship fight instead of fighting an overhyped brawler. Can you blame him? Then Mundine ran away to middleweight.
Lying won't help your argument my friend. Kessler was shamelessly abused by his former promotor Mogens Palle who refused to let him fight Miranda. Everybody knows this. Kessler has jumped ship and teamed up with Sauerland and is as of now still involved in legal battles with Mogens Palle.
As I recall it, Kessler ran nowhere. He was forced to D. Häusller instead. When the talk of the fight against Miranda reappeared Miranda said no!
