I think Ward was dropped by Boone with an uppercut . That makes me to think that Ward vs Bute would be a 50/50 fight !:hey:yep p.s Dawson was drained as **** , very lethargic !
I think it was the 5th round (don't quote me on that though ). Froch hit him with a free shot and Ward just looked at him.
I'd say they both have decent chins. Bute's just got exposed because Ward has a better defense. People keep bringing up Boone and Kost being bottom-level, but the truth is any jackass can throw a punch. Against far better competition Ward's chin has stood up pretty well. Bute not so much.
Battle of the glass jawes. China chin vs Polish glass. Tough question but i think Wardkke has a lesser chin here, if that's even posible
Why is this thread even up? It's obvious that Ward has the better chin he's been down once in his career and from there on went on to face great punchers. While Bute on the other hand was knocked out against Andrade and Froch. But still I stand by what I said at the time of the fight, Bute DOESN'T have a glass jaw. He took like 100 flush shots to the head. There aren't many fighters that can take that much and still don't go down. His problem was that he didn't really throw anything back and froch.
ward, rolls punches and protects his chins so well, its hard to know. He also see's everything coming, and a punch seen doesnt hurt as much as your body naturally reacts to it.
To answer the thread. Ward has only been down once when he was novice. Bute's chin has been more questioned than Ward's over the years, probably because Ward's skillset and defense is much better. Overall you can say that Ward doesn't need a strong chin, so talking about can be irrelevant to some degree. But when it may come down to if you want to give Ward the benefit of doubt, he has been in there with some punchers and he has taken some hits, but you have never had the feeling that he has been tagged hard. Where Bute has been in those situations on occasion, but has been looking very shaky.
That was a nasty uppercut that Ward walked right into against Boone and he clearly never saw it coming. Anybody who has ever actually taken one of those types of punches knows the deal. Ward may not have an amazing chin as far as elite boxers go, but it ain't bad either. More importantly, he doesn't leave it open to get tested very often. Any man can be knocked down and knocked out, so best chin is the one that doesn't get hit.
Bute was hurt by the first punch by Froch and gone against Andrade.. Maybe Wards chin haven't been tested that much, but I'm sure he has a better chin then Bute.
indeed Ward has very superior defensive skills. He know how to take a punch / roll with the punch and I think he has a good chin too . He took some shots from Froch and he wasn't staggered. On the other hand Bute was in trouble after Froch landed on his chin and I'm pretty sure that Bute saw that punch coming. Actually he said that he saw Froch's punches coming but he wasn't able to do nothing cuz he was hurt. So yea Ward has very advanced boxing skills and a better chin than Bute !
