See, for the people who were actually paying attention to the news, they knew Ward had no intention of fighting GGG in the foreseeable future. He was simply riding GGG's coattails by calling out his name.

The interesting question is who will Ward fight since NSAC just ruled the bout a mismatch. It's crunch time. The fight is about 3 weeks away, ridiculous.

 

Ward will beat Kovalev I think. Very interesting fight. Would love to see both vs La Cruz if he can turn pro.. Think he is a special talent.

Was Ward really going to flounder around for a year to fight GGG at 168 in the fall of 2017? That is what the deal supposedly proposed, right? I find that difficult to believe and seriously doubt that he's even capable of making 168 anymore, let alone a year from now.

GGG told Ward either fight at 168 a few times to re-establish yourself first OR fight now at 164. Ward said no to both of those. Golovkin gave Ward options. Ward didn't want to negotiate let alone fight.

GGG should have fought Ward at 168 if Ward could have still made it.

If Ward said "Man I just can longer make 168" then no fight would have been justified.

But GGG should have dared to be great. He would have probably lost to Ward, but he should have tried.
