Didn't Ward want some Extra time off???
(Also a factor, Bute got knocked off during this period)

Wants to fight the best? The rare breed known as a 'true champion'?

Dawson claimed he can make weight, Ward didnt even need to negotiate him down to tht weight to make the fight, Dawson also weighed in at the weight early on in his career and by his own admission when he wasnt dedicated and doin g what he should have been doing. Ward will get full props with this win in what will be a very unusual and interesting fight.

I dont know what sparkled means in this context, but I largely agree with your points. People who put it another way aren't looking at the facts. couple that with the fact that both chad and his trainer, john scully, assert definitively that he will be able to make 168 there and not be drained, and it is a much more risky and therefore commendable bout for ward.

The wanting Bute to prove himself was bull****, the guy was ranked #2 in the division and was higher than Dawson on the P4P list.

6 months ago Bute was a bigger scalp than Dawson, especially at 168.

That's what I'm thinking too. Have to give Ward credit for fighting the Ring champ of the next weight-class. If he had fought Bute people would have been saying he should have fought Dawson. Never going to please everybody, personally I see Dawson as a bigger test than Bute.

The only time people would have said he should fight Dawson is if he beat Bute and that would be because they want him to move up since he wouldn't have any competition left at 168lbs.

Dawson is the harder fight and better fight period. It will look better on his resume down the road than a hype job like Bute would.

Ward suffered a hand injury against Froch and wouldn't have been ready to fight in the spring, which is when Bute wanted to fight. I'm not even sure if Ward would've gotten more money against Bute. The bulk of the money is generated from TV revenue, and HBO will pay a much higher liscensing fee for Ward/Dawson than Showtime would pay for Ward/Bute.

Wrong! In people who buy into hype eyes but not mine. I picked Froch to win that fight. I knew Bute wasn't ready for the type of fight that Froch would bring to him. Froch had spent the better part of two years fighting and beating the best while Bute stayed at home fighting no-hopers and has-beens. This was one of the easiest fights to pick of the year especially when you know how to separate hype from substance:deal

Ward had zero reason to fight Bute. why? what the **** has Bute done? He was knocked out earlier in his career and got saved by the ref, and the guy who knocked his ass out was a C- fighter. Ward bute? yeah right.

Bute gotta earn some stripes first

Bute was nothing but a hype job, and many fans drank the cool aid. I was telling everyone Frotch was gonna knock his ass out. Ez work.

Because Ward didn't want it. Now he has a reason to never fight Bute. I bet Ward and his 10 fans are happy about it too, sadly.

Actually no I would have liked to have seen Ward beat Bute worse than PBF beat Gatti. It would have been funny. But Ward was right, in that Bute needed to prove himself first before getting his shot.
