Ward's decision to fight Chad instead of Bute?

I'd say part of it is because he could control the negotiations better. The most money to be made in the Bute fight would have been in Montreal, Bute being a huge star there.

Fighting Dawson, who has no following, all negotiations could be in their favor. He gets Dawson in Oakland, and he gets Dawson to come down 7 pounds to fight him there as well. If he wins, he gets to claim he beat the LHW Champion of the World, if he loses then there's a built in excuse Dawson was too big, and he gets to fight at home which he seems to prefer to do. All things in his favor, Dawson had basically zero leverage.

I agree with that. Ward needs everything in his favour most of the time.

I doubt the fight would have came off since Ward needs to be in Jokeland, and the real money would have been in Montreal. Ask Hopkins

 

Ward would have put on a clinic against Bute he would have beaten him at all ranges and Bute would have no answer for him. Ward is the real deal and has underrated toughness and nastiness he would have put it on Bute really bad. Turbo, I know you love Bute but he would have been schooled against Ward man.:good

 

I wish he was as confident as you are. Hell I still want to see the fight if Bute can ever beat Frochy :twisted: but I have a feeling Ward goes to 175 after this. A couple more good wins by Bute and why shouldn't Ward and Bute fight?

Dawson is getting a shot at Ward and he lost to Pascal who Froch already beat as well. :tired

 

I dont like Ward i think he's a phony, self righteous ******* but he wants to be great and he always fights the biggests fights he can but always in his backyard

 

Hewould have coasted to an easy decision and got plaudits for facing the next best in the division rather than Froch who beat the living **** out of him, automatically making him a " hype job ".

Good points, and Bute will likely find a good fighter to tune up against before rematching Froch in March. By next summer, should Bute overcome his loss, Ward should have absolutely NO reasons to avoid him again.

Clearly dont see why some people cant grasp this simple concept...Most people (mainly Bute fans) act is Dawson is a notch below Bute in which is clearly wrong.

Dawson has a better chance to beat Ward than Bute IMO.

 

I remember on here years ago everyone ( white american ) was slating Joe Calzaghe for not fighting Pavlik after he beat Taylor. Fast forward to Pavlik being embarrassed by old man Bernard and everyone said Joe would of slapped him silly anyway.
