Seems to do everything really well, doesn't have exceptionally fast reflexes ala Mayweather but has excellent timing and impressive footwork. Can be caught when put under sustained pressure which Miranda did for 3 rounds but then unravelled and started to get caught loads. Froch isn't a huge pressure fighter, tends to stalk his opponent around the ring. I know its all about levels but could well see him catch Ward with the type of punch that floored Tatevosyan a few years back because when Ward tends to retreat he doesn't totally run. Can see Froch taking a lot of staight rights from Ward though. Very interesting fight.
I'd like to see Froch drop the "Cobra" nickname at the weigh in and call himself "Son of Satan". See if he can unsettle Ward mentally because he doesn't have much chance with the physical attributes.
I think his two flaws are his lack of punch power and his chin...lately no one has been able to really land a good shot on him but I think if Froch does he will badly hurt Ward.
Early on he struggles to find range and can fall in with jab and quickly grabs and holds on till break is called. Noticed it in a few recent fights. He's pretty good at everything he does really. A true all round fighter but that's something i picked up on.
I know its been said about Ward that he doesn't have a hurtful punch but when you consider that Abraham and Miranda and Kessler i guess are hurtful punchers, they couldn't exactly walk through him. So while Ward doesn't punch hard id say there is enough sting in them to keep you at bay.
I suppose you could say that he does seem to cut up and if Froch gets his jab going he could have a bloody night.
His only weakness is a distinct lack of power. That shouldn't mean a thing though. More of an effective, annoying strategy he employs than a weakness.
The falling short with his jab is a weakness early once he gets it going it's a major strength, The holding just shows he knows he's out of position. Ward is very tactically aware and is well versed on what he needs to do. His lack of power can be attributed to many things i'd say. One being not sitting on punches because he's only looking to score not hurt. Also i think he's not clenching fist tight it looks like he's got a relaxed hand.
He does fall in with the shots which I think is a trait left over from the amateurs. The remedy for this is an uppercut. mmmmm now if only Froch had an uppercut!!!:think
Ottke used to do the same thing. A kind of body checking thing. He would slam his shoulders in real good as well.
:rofl This thread is finished. Best first reply ever The Son of God has no notable weakness, only Damien can beat him! :deal
