In fact, even more questions have been raised, as he was rocked by a jab in the first and tasted canvas and looked ready to go in the second. If he wants to keep that fragile chin intact, he'll avoid fighting Golovkin or taking a Kovalev rematch.
Ward's chicken dance after eating a jab in the first round was not a good sign. Reminded me of the first jab Prescott landed against Khan. There's a reason why Ward fights as he does, and it's not because he has a strong chin.
Wrong he got up showed heart and went the distance and won the fight. If it was suspect kovalev is the right chin checker to test it . Guys with suspect chins get stopped against kovalev
I think Ward was surprised by Kovalev's timing early in the fight, but once he got it down he started taking Krusher's shots a whole lot better. If his durability were in question, he'd have been stopped a lot sooner.
Amazing the difference in opinions here, Ward took some nice hooks post the knockdown an wasn't fazed at the same level.....his chin is progressive
This response make far too much sense to be merged into this psychotic thread but I'm reminded that even flowers need crap to bloom.
Ward's chin is above average, as It's proven time and again. He deserved to be praised for his recovery, determination and adjustments last nights, not to be ridiculed for his chin.
To suggest Ward has a fragile chin after last night would also be questioning the effectiveness of Kovalevs power which we know is folly. how can someone with an alleged fragile chin take shots from such a formidable power puncher and last 12 rounds? I think it's more of a psychological issue with ward as he is not use to nor does he like the taste of pain. Once he got over the psychological hurdle of accepting the pain he was better able to absorb SKs power.
And, truth be told, like in the Dawson fight, Ward would have a chance of shattering Stevenson's fragile beard.
