Ward's resume isn't as strong as people say it is

    Trolls will be trolls. They are just part of the package of conversing with people online. We aren't talking about Calzaghe or Kovalev or Golovkin but trolls love making their own conversation.

    Ward's resume is one of the best in all of boxing. All this leftover talk is so childish. He has beaten the best of the best in the super middleweight division and is a Hallf of Famer in my book. The coolest thing about his career is that his two or three most significant victories might still be in front of him.

    Mikkel Kessler - top class. It was dirty, but a win is a win.
    Carl Froch - top class win, Super Six final
    Arthur Abraham - top class win.
    Chad Dawson - solid win
    Sakio Bika - solid win
    Edison Miranda - solid win
    Allan Green - ok win
    Edwin Rodríguez - ok win

    * Won Super Six tournament
    * 6 title defenses
    * Undefeated

    I wouldn't label Arthur Abraham as a top class win, but it was a solid one. Otherwise you got it right IMO. Wards resume holds up well, but he needs to start going after the big guns.

    Who calls it all that strong? Kessler and Froch, that's about it.

    He's rated as highly as he is, and has been since the S6, on h2h merit, because he beat the de facto man of the division (Kessler, with Calzaghe having moved up to 175 to chase Hopkins and Jones and then retiring by then) and then dominated the consensus #2 (Froch)

    Abraham at 168lbs isn't a top class win. Froch of all people looked like Sweet Pea against him.

    MW Abraham >>> SMW Abraham.

    Its that exact same Abraham. Only at 160 he was able to bully smaller fighters, at 168 he has to box.

    Which he can't do. Without the size advantage, he isn't that good. 2-time WBO champ at the weight, sure, but he obtained it both times beating Stieglitz, who most people had decided years ago was no better than average (his stock having risen, primarily, in a bit of circular logic here, through doing well in 3 of 4 with Abraham...)

    I agree. And when you consider all his wins have come in his back garden it's less impressive

    Plenty of people do in fact... Many act like it's some sort of ATG resume.

    I've seen people list fighters like Miranda and Green as great wins to boost it up, it's quite hilarious.

    That's crazy if they do. Those wins are rubbish, and both of them combined aren't half as good as his win over Bika.

    My understanding was that like 90% of Ward's shine comes from his ranking h2h, based on beating the best two guys left in the division in the void left the couple of years after Calzaghe departed.

    Froch, Kessler, Abraham, Bika, and Dawson are as much or more than almost everyone else has right now, with the exception of Pac, May, Hopkins, Marquez, and Jones who really all ought to be retiring. The shame of it is that he accomplished that in just three years, which shows how easy it is, and how low the bar has fallen yet nobody is stepping up. In the three years since, he's done jack ****.

    Dawson was drained and Abraham is a paper champ at the weight, not half as effective as he was at 160.

    Kessler and Froch are elite wins (and two of those alone is admittedly more than most people have) and then Bika is a very solid W to back those up.

    Don't put Abraham or Dawson in the same breath as Bika, let alone Froch & Kessler, though.
