only as much as did calzaghes stock, since this russian guy beat up joes best win. well done, didnt think it thru eh?
I cant stand Andre Ward and even i think this thread is bollocks. Wards record and resume was mainly built from his days at 168. He moved up in weight and took on and beat the monster of Light heavy, twice. Right now we can argue about how dirty a cheat he was and what physical or mental shape Kovalev was in but in time all that will soon be forgotten and the facts that will remain are the ones that show that Ward beat dangerman Kovalev twice and before anybody else managed it. Just like Fury v Wilder. Everybody knows Fury should take more time after the state he has allowed himself to get in to but if Wilder faces and beats Fury we will bicker about Furys condition for a while but it will soon be all forgotten and all that will be left is the fact that Wilder beat defeater of Klitchko and Lineal champion Tyson Fury.
Andre broke Kovalev down both mentally and physically. He shattered his aura of invincibility. Kovalev was never going to be the same afterwards, and guys like Alvarez are now taking advantage of it. The honest question that you need to ask yourself, is: Would Alvarez have knocked out Kovalev 2-3 years ago?
And they always do it when a fighter gets old, assuming they were never any good simply because they were beaten. I wonder how many would say Norton, Frazier and Holmes were never that good because Ali lost to Spinks and Berbick. Kovalev is an excellent fighter, always was. It doesnt change now he is 35 going on 36, every fighter gets old and starts to lose.
Nothing to do with Calzaghe.....nothing to see hear about JC. As for Kovalev, he retires tomorrow what would you say are his top 3 official wins?
He was way past his sell by point before Ward came on the scene? Ha! Stop. Before he fought Andre, we had to endure about 10 threads per week, such as: "Be honest, even a prime version of Roy Jones wouldn't have lasted 3 rounds with the Krusher" He was built up as the Terminator.
And yet escalating from a question to an outburst says so much more about you. And for the record, I wasn't advocating double standards as much as using your phrase and reframing it, which also explains your rather odd reaction, I suspect...
There were a lot of people that had Kovalev above Golovkin pfp, which I never really understood. I loved watching his fights but never really thought he was elite
apart from the fact that timeout specifically mentioned joe in the post i replied to. learn to read content afore u reply next time, ty.
He was better than his detractors would have us believe but not as good as those who idolised him thought. But that's so true of many boxers. I think at his very best, he was very good but lacked the dedication to stretch his technical talents beyond the point where his willingness to maintain the physical requirements of elite level fighting became decisive. In short... he liked a drink lol
lol odd reaction a post commenting is now an odd reaction salty double standards out burst ffs The feelings in this one are strong are do i mean sensitive
Let's get on topic Herol, in your opinion as a fan of the Krusher like myself who would you day where his best wins? It's a shame he's on his way out as the division is getting hot.
