    Your argument is just semantics.

If you think a boxer suffered a robbery, by definition you think the fighter awarded the win, actually lost. Only someone high up on the Autistic Spectrum can't extrapolate from this.

Yes, on BoxRec it says Ward won on points, no one is denying this when they say Krusher was robbed and won the fight. Won the fight, lost on the scorecards. It's not difficult....

I just don't get this type of reasoning

Lucas Arnold Ker (yes who the frack you say) beat Roger Federer early on in his career. Roger has gone on to win 20 Grand Slams

So by the reasoning posters use here, because Ker beat Federer in the past, he must be the best tennis player in history because of what Federer has achieved since ?

    You know that's rubbish

Just like Kovalev;s current wins have nothing to do with Wards stock and Pacquios current wins have nothing to do with Mayweather's stock

Do you mean Ward won the most narrow decision of the last 5 years by a point and threw 300 punches to his bollocks in the rematch?

Ward's stock will always remain at the height of Kovalev's nutsack. Those are the consequences of being a cheater. Yarde could have resorted to low blows, but would have been DQ'd or worse in Russia.

Kovalev was robbed in the first fight with Ward. Kovalev landed far more shots and dropped the guy on top of it. It was a bad call.

The rematch was very exciting, but Ward's final punches were clearly low blows. They didn't even land on the belt line. They were "by every definition" below the belt.

I actually laughed out loud yesterday watching some of ESPN+'s prefight coverage where they had a Rock'em Sock'em Robot toy graphic (which is an old toy some of us used to have) ... and when they spoke about Ward stopping Kovalev, they showed the Ward robot punching the Kovalev robot in the chin and the Kovalev robot's head springing up.

Now, I know there was no BALL PUNCH in the Rock'em Sock'em Robot toy. But saying Ward stopped Kovalev and using the graphic of a robot punching the other's head off its shoulders was laughable.

And I did laugh. I know Ward was sitting there as an "expert commentator" ... but every time during the broadcast Ward said Kovalev didn't like it "to the body" ... I rolled my eyes.

Kovalev doesn't like it "to the balls." He takes body shots just fine.

Troll thread. Any reasonable person knows Ward got a gift in the first fight. I do give Ward credit for being gritty and hanging in there some heart but he lost. Yet came back and while a controversial ending marred the rematch it was a much better performance by Ward.
    Two great fighters.
Kovalev showed great heart last night and in the first Ward match.

I hate Ward but I thought he won the first Kovalev fight. However old shot to **** Kovalev beating a green Yarde does nothing for Ward, this is just ****ing stupid.

He never beat him pillar to post. The fights showed that very little separates the two. Ward has a small edge based on mental toughness. And home advantage helped him too.

I thought Kovalev won the first Ward fight clearly, and despite a rally from Ward in the second half, pretty easily. One guy was the boss that night and it wasn’t Andre Ward.
    8-4 or 7-5 plus Kd.
If you believe Kovalev won the fight his resume is really good. He dominated an old Hopkins in a way no fighter ever has, he beat a peak Ward imo cleanly and clearly, he avenged his loss to good fighter in Alvarez and now an unbeaten game Yarde. Plus a slew of solid wins over Pascal, Cleverly etc.
He is the best light heavy in a long time. He is a hall of fame fighter. However his best days are behind him. Would love to see a Canelo match

If Ward had coached Yarde on how to throw his patented nut shot it could have been a different result.
