Regardless of how you feel about the fight, you have to admit it's a great ending to the first round of the tournament. First, the tournie is being run by an American network, they need an American star for people to get behind, to make it worth their while. Second, its Ward breaking onto the big time in the tournament. Taking on the favourite and beating him is a great way to announce that your a top contender. Now we got another guy who could win it. Third, the favourite getting beaten really shakes up the tournament. Kessler is still one of the most dangerous guys in the tournament, and he's going to be be going hell for leather in the next couple of fights because he needs the points. His next fight with Froch will be a belter.

The first round has been a washout with only one impressive performance so far. Still early days though.
