@Brumsongs Did you have a link for that 35% you said they offered? I would be interested in getting my facts straight if true
You think both parties costs would be a few thousand? I dont think so And if he loses, that's when he'd pay such costs Meaning, he gets no millions from Whyte
Hi, I haven't had time to look as am back at work. The 35% was, I'm sure, what was offered pre-purse bids and I think Dillian wanted 45%. The offer of upside on the PPV came from Arum in an interview whilst Whyte was delaying signing the contract. I do think he's been badly advised and that lawyer sounded incompetent. Warren is litigious for fun so signing a contract with him and then entering a dispute is a foolish move and seems to have achieved nothing. The mysterious aspect of this for me is why Ben Shalom cropped up in negotiations for Dillian saying that Sky would have a role to play in the fight. That seemed really odd.
In that case if the fight did 1mil ppv buys the argument could be Whytes actions had no negative effects on how the fight was promoted.
Shalom was the one coming in at the last minute as well trying to get step aside for Whyte, which is weird.
Okay, that's fair enough. BUT I'll have to take that with a large grain of salt. I don't read every single news article, but I have followed this story, and as I recall Whyte's side was demanding 45% as interim champion (though no longer stipulated in the guidelines) and Arum was sticking to 25% (which was below guidelines for a mandatory challenger). So I'm highly skeptical that 35% was ever offered and rejected. Especially considering Arum lobbied for 20%. What I guess I'm saying is that I don't think you are being even handed to fall back on a supposed idea that there was a 35% offer that Whyte's team rejected, if neither of us can find trace of it. I remember Ben Shalom was shocked at the WBC split ruling too. He was adamant about the WBC having to give a fair split (I think on talk sport). Whyte is basically getting 18% if he loses, and zero upside. I hope the fight goes ahead. But honestly I don't know what to expect in regards to the fight taking place now Warren has started threatening non-payment. I wouldn't even be surprised if Whyte ducks out the ring and walks to the dressing room when the bell goes similar to the guy who was getting his purse messed with just before the fight with Ajagba And now Anderson is injured... Well there are 3 to 4 more weeks to go I guess
To be fair, if Whyte is not even willing to help with the promotion which in turn helps sell tickets, why the hell should he be given any for free.
This fight is less than a month away and we have no promotion, an ongoing arbitration, basically no undercard and yet the best undercard fight they could have had with Jared Anderson, just got cancelled. I have the exact same feeling I had before the Wilder Fury III fight last summer. Right before Fury faked covid and the fight got pushed back. Yet they still want us to believe it sold out within hours???
I thought the fight was already "sold out" with 85k tickets bought???? They couldn't have lied to us could they?
Where is the precedent it could do better? There is no precedent which shows BT Sport ppv, Tyson Fury or Dillian Whyte selling 1mil ppv buys. If you want to talk about precedent then it's only fair to use it across the board and considering only one fighter recently and one platform has achieved 1mil buys I would argue there is no such precedent to suggest it could have done more.
Never mind the fact Fury was given 10k tickets as per his agreement for the fight. It had nothing to do with promotion. If Fury gets 10k then Whyte should get tickets. A whole lot more than 6. I want to know how to many tickets were sold to ticketmaster?
