There are two sides to every tale but I think that is an okay interview...:yep I think that the exposure he got Calzaghe and Hatton was great, especially for JC after the Starie fight...:barf and all credit to Starie, he made the best look atrocious...:yep Amir Khan was and is fortunate that his promoter got him a World Title shot 12 months after been smoked...:yep There is no way that his next promoters will do this if he gets de-railed in the USA...:yep It will be interesting to see how it all transpires...I must admit I loved the way that JC and RJJ did their business. A few text messages, met in London. Cut the promoters out and made all the money themselves...:happy
Maybe i'm a fool, but I actually beleive Frank in most of this, he's actually speaking the truth, except maybe the Naz thing, but even that, he's worded it in such a way, that he's actually right, he didnt wanna be in effect what Barry Hearn turned into. I actually beleive he was talking with ppl about making Khan have fghts in the uk against the very best, i.e. Alexander, Bradley, Maidana etc, but Khan wanted to fight in America, plus Roach didnt want him fighting these guys so soon, and wanted things done his way, so it came to a choice between Frank and Freddie, and personally i think Khan made the right choice, Freddie's the only one who can protect him from another career threatening beatdown, whilst keeping him respected.
There are some things that Warren says which are questionable... such as blanket statement of GBP wanting US-Hispanic fighter doing better than Brit.... Under the specific circumstances GBP would want the one who is more marketable and who sells more PPVs. Hays clearly has a whole country behind him, Sky PPV maybe and has charisma.... Ruiz...well the less said the better. Not withstanding the fact Haye may end up fighting GBP very own Bernard Hopkins. Also the stuff he brings up about negotionting the kotelnik deal just stinks of bitterness Overall Warren just sounds like Warren....a complete bitter w******
I would've thought he was suggesting Khan didn't want to risk getting knocked out by Maidana and at the same time didn't want to relinquish the title, with Goldenboy he had to do neither, with Frank he had to do one or the other.
for all frank warren shitey cards and matches he makes he does look after his boxers and make them money
''I know what it is deep down but dont want to embarrass anybody.'' I wonder what Warren means by that.....
Amir khan? Shah Khan? Asif Vali? Freddie Roach? Its gotta be one of the four, i think this thread deserves a poll
Beleive me, Warren would embarrass at the first opportunity...he's got very little class. The only reasons he wouldn't is either a) He's lying about it b) they would return the compliment and embarrass him with some of his behind the scene suggestions.
I have a tingling feeling that Amir went with GBP because they offered him some kind of corrupt deal...It just all seems a bit wierd how Warren keeps dropping hints liek that. :-(
He could be talking ****, on one hand he says he don't know the rationale in the decision... and in an instant later..he does know..but doesnt want to say... hmmmmm.
