Warren says Murray was offered the Khan fight.

Nobody murray has beaten is as good as kotelnik or a balooned up barerra, although the barerra win was controversial. Amir khan almost completely shut out a decent beltholder with his first move up in weight. Murrays career is moving far too slowly, he should step it up big time.

 

Murray needs to forget about Khan- I think he can become a world champion at his own weight. Katsidis is a great fight for him. Khan is quickly losing the exciting style that made him must-view. I'd much rather watch a Murray fight- at least you know there is going to be some action. Khans only good to watch because he may get knocked out.

headbutting a fat blown up barrera and winning when it should have been a technical draw is no achievement. it basically got khan's confidence up for the kotelnik fight - it was a confidence trick, that worked. khan will never be short of opportunities, because he was an olympic medallist and there is more money to promote khan than there is to murray - murray, who turned pro totally unknown.

khan has been picking on super featherweights whose styles are no threat to him, for a long time. and even got hurt badly in 2 such fights and KO'd in a round by one of the few opponents that was the same size as him (admittedly dangerous prescott).

of course, khan delivered when he got the big opportunity, v kotelnik, already demeaning his own achievement by saying kotelnik was the weakest world champion in boxing (this seems to be the mindset of the warren fighter, as per alex arthur - "I want Gairy St Clair, the weakesht of the shuper featherweight championsh"). murray is doing great so far, his domestic run is more convincing than khan's commonwealth run and like i say he's stopped some bigger men to boot.

i'm sure when john murray gets his big opportunity, that he will also deliver. and i'm sure it will be a lot more exciting, as well.

 

You do realise that khan only said that stuff about kotelnik as a ploy to get him to sign the fight. He may have been the weakest champ at 140 for sure but 140 is a stacked division at the top. The only problem i see with murray is i dont see the potential in him. Murray has a good chin however it hasnt really been tested on world level. He has power again not tested at world level. His boxing skill is quite good but hes far too slow. Khan has had many less fights than murray, is also younger than him and i can see the potential in him simply because of his speed height and reach.

Khan has fought better opponents than Murray I belive, previous to the Thaxton fight, Murray was fighting against Scott Lawton, who Khan fought and stopped a number of years ago. The comparisons of Murray and Khan should stop, if Murray want to build a decent career, he should do exactly that and him and his fans should stop obsessing about Khan and the privileges he has what come with winning an Olympic Medal.
