Enzo seem disheartened as much with his Promoter / Training situation as getting knocked out You can come back from getting knocked out - but if all the team around you and your own promoter is treating you like **** it might not be worth the hassle and just pack it in
No doubt though Warren will have this other guy as his main crusierweight now You could see when Enzo was being led back to his corner after getting KO'd the guilt in Frank Warrens eyes - he knows he has neglected this fighter and put him on the ignore list for the past year. Enzo was inactive going into that fight - not just from sparring - but also from actual fights. Just because certain World title fights fell through he could have still ticked over and made a bit of extra money fighting 8 rounders on various sports network cards since the Haye defeat. But Warren has given him no fight and just get postponing the big fight for him and all along the rust is building up and up and all Enzo had was a new date to train towards until that one fell through then he would just be given another new date. Why not just give him some 8x3 mins against some useful journeymen just to keep him active and earning and he would have been in a much better conidtion to fight last night and might have won.
it's thanks to Warren's WBO matchmaking stuff and his association with camp Calzaghe that Macca ever got recognition and money as a top class cruiser, when infact he never was. He should be thankful, and besides he could always have left. But he didn't. Now he's been well and truly exposed for ALL to see.
Well I dont know about that - contracts, etc Who knows the politics behind it all And where would he go if he left Warren who is Britians main promoter
I don't think him being more toned hurt him. He looked to convert that little bit of fat into muscle so I can't see how that is detrimental. His game plan and lack of sparring is what hurt him. That fight was there to be won.
I wonder if Enzo C reduced his training fees to the boys boxing on saturday, that would seem the morally correct thing to do if your not in the gym. Not sparring before a world title...or in this case tidle fight is utterly unproffessional. Enzo must blame himself- how many fighters do you think are in the Arse end of Colne, lancashire? Yet Gomez has been sparring different fighters nearly everyday. There is no excuses for poor preperation. Yes things like injuries etc will happen, but it is up to the fighter an the trainer to ensure they are adequetly prepared. If I was Enzo i'd move camps immediately. I'd even consider the move down to light heavy. He needs a fresh start in a freshweight division. You could see from the outset he was making stupid mistakes and now we know why. Falling in behind his punches. Smothering his work. Neglecting his jab. Not positioning his hands correctly on the inside. It was a shite performance from a very good fighter and that is prob the most frustrating thing about it. Enzo take hold of YOUR career. You've got one chance left.
I would prefer to see Enzo with a new trainer. The thing that irks me is that despite he's deficiencies the kid loves to fight. That means he has the right attitude. Unfortunately for him he has the wrong team. What works for one doesn't work for all and thats why Enzo C is a complete idiot and a **** trainer. As for a drop to 75 thats not a good idea. Enzo is reaching physical maturity and just needs a good strength and conditioning coach to supplement he's boxing. Not lifting beer kegs in a fricking seller!!atsch
True Scurla.... He needs Freddie Roach and Mike Moorer Khan, Macca and Moorer can argue about who has/had the worst beard p4p
I guess he looked at it like a football team. He suffered a major loss and instead of strengthening at the back, he concentrated on his attack.
The extra muscle didn't help him at all - but why the need to actually bulk up to 200lbs. If your natural/best fighting weight is 190, then ****ing fight at 190. Heavyweight boxing might actually be decent if the fighters TRAINED, rather than making themselves as big as possible feasting on a diet of crispy duck and beer.
