It's been a huge year for British boxing - and there's another massive fight next weekend when Ricky Hatton takes on Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas. I hope for British boxing's sake that Ricky wins, but he's really up against it when he challenges for the WBC welterweight title at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas. In Mayweather, 30, he is facing is a fighter in his prime and one of the best boxers in the world at the moment at any weight. He's won world titles at five different weights. True, Hatton, 29, scalped Kostya Tszyu to confirm he belongs with the best, but I always fancied him to win because I felt the Aussie was there to be beaten. Injury prone, ageing and inactive, Tszyu was always vulnerable against a fighter who could fight on the inside with a high work rate. He was made for Hatton. That was probably Hatton's last really good showing, Ricky himself said prior to the Castillo fight his performances were well below par as he failed to look the part when he beat Juan Urango, Luis Collazo and Carlos Maussa in three consecutive world title fights for three different belts. And while everyone is raving about his last win, over former world light-weight champion Jose Luis Castillo, he was a shot fighter. Hatton caught him with a great body shot, but Castillo definitely looked for a way out. The Hitman won't find things so easy against Mayweather, the first world class fighter in his "prime" that he has faced. Unless he has a lot of movement when he comes forward, he'll get picked off by the Pretty Boy, who is an excellent sharp-shooter with lightning fast hands and footwork. And I've noticed recently that Hatton tends to hit and hold when he's on the inside, rather than really let the punches go as he used to. read the rest http://www.frankwarren.tv/drill/News/Articles/2007/12/03/text-hatton-s-up-against-it.html
He`s a *****.He would have been singing a totally diffrent tune if Ricky was still his fighter. Can someone tell me why he signed M`baye? I dont think even Warren can find a good enough excuse for that debacle.
He is still pissed for not being able to cash in on Hatton.**** Frank and his homo brigade from Wales.:tired
He is also a lying ****. He will be cheering on PBF more than PBFs corner. ****ing snake ****. He does not give a **** about British boxing and if Calzaghe said he wanted his last fight independent, then Warren would be cheering on whoever was across the ring from Joe. The sooner that roach dies the better.
Damn right, I hate him for a reason. He is the most two faced, lying, manipulative **** around. Even look at how he goes around saying that Lenny McLean was just a bully who got battered by this man and that guy. Pathetic. He promoted McLean and it was his cousin, he talked about him as unbeatable. They fall out and McLean dies years later and now after his cousin is dead all Warren can do is tell everyone what a fraud he was and how he was such a nasty **** who only picked on smaller people blah blah... Utter *****. His column makes me sick. For him to have the nerve to slag off Haye and then try and sell Enzo v Sellers.:-(
His a promoter thats what promoters do.His also a very small fish in a big pond with dillusions of grandeur who`s a bitter old man.
I think frank is ok, and lived up to getting the big matches, I think you lot need anger management, calm down for f sakes lol,
What an idioit allegedly Fwank is! Why can't he just get behing Ricky & support him like a lot of others are doing? Make no mistake, Warren still has sour grapes about the situation with Hatton. If Ricky wins, what will Warren say to down-play a victory over Mayweather? Wonder if he will say Calzaghe's win over Kessler was better or more significent! I bet he won't give Ricky the praise or credot he would rightly deserve for beating Mayweather. If Ricky loses, I bet Warren will not resist having a little dig at Ricky in some comment or another. Warren claims he spoke to Ricky recently for the first time in two years. Put it this way, it will be Warren trying to build bridges to Ricky, not the other way around. If Ricky were to never work with Warren again, it would be Frank's loss, not Ricky's!
A small fish who can outbid De Le Hoya when Scott Harrison had Marquez as his mandatry and paid millions to bring over the likes of Tyson,Tszyu, Kessler and many more. I agree he does overprotect a lot of his fighters at times though too. He's right about Hatton and Floyd though no matter what side he would be on If he still had Hatton.
He did say that he hope Ricky wins In that article.:huh He did patch things up with the Hatton's a while back too.
i share your dislike strike. :yep i was tempted to go and see hatton fight when he took on ray oliveira back in december 2004. but the thought of lining warren's pockets put me off the idea.
This article like many articles by Frank Is being a little misunderstood though. Just because he's being realistic about Hatton's chances some think he Is not hoping he wins despite saying he hopes Ricky wins In the article. Hatton's only loyal to who pays the most too, he left Hobson for this fight so Warren's not the only so called snake. Hatton walked away from Frank because of money claims and pretended In his book like he was underpaid.
Changed your bloody tune havent you.Back then all you Hatton clones were bleating that "old" Ray was still legit!atsch
