only yesterday Theophane said he wasn't going to stick around in the UK. a typical empty gesture from Frank.

Here are my rankings at 140. Wouldn't mind seeing Gavin in with Cook for the vacant title but think he has burnt his bridges with Warren.

No problem with Daws getting a return with Gavin. Williams would also be a good shout.

    Light Welterweight (140lbs)
    1. Amir Khan (WBA World Champion)*
    2. Paul McCloskey*
    3. Ajose Olusegun (Commonwealth)
    4. Ashely Theophane (British)
    5. Lenny Daws
    6. Jason Cook
    7. Frankie Gavin (Irish)
    8. Steve Williams
    9. Dean Byrne
    10. Barry Morrison
    11. Peter McDonough
    12. Tyrone Nurse
    13. Curtis Woodhouse
    14. Karl Place
    15. Dean Harrison

I hope Theophane doesn't vacate and **** off over the pond. He would have made a few fans on Saturday, so it'll be nice to see him stay here a while and defend the Longsdale.

As for the fight with Gavin, it's a goodun, it really is. Frankie hadn't fought anyone as good as Theophane yet (ie someone that can box a bit on the outside and someone who will come to win.) I think Frankie wins it, but he won't have it all his own way. I hope the fight happens.

I think it'll be very one-sided if it happens. I dont rate Theophane, and Gavin looks potentially excellent. I think he might stop him, but I'd go with a very wide decision.

it won't happen. way too high risk, low reward for theophane.

:huh he would have beaten the top prospect in Britain, and one of the top prospects in the world. Would be a massive scalp and Theophane's best win.

    no.

if he goes over to america he can fashion himself a bigger pay day than frankie gavin and increase his reputation by fighting less risky opponents. he will also probably lose and if he loses to a prospect, his reputation will take a massive hit.

Makes very little sense from Theophane's point

Frankie is a better all round fighter than Theopane and I'd be backing Frankie heavily in the bookies, I keep saying it, 2011 is Frankies year, he will without doubt end up the face of British boxing in a few years time.. The kid is a special fighter!! ;)

That's the point. Wright's style could potentially give him fits. Would be interesting to see how he reacts.
