Frank Warren is taking Joe Calzaghe to court over an alleged breach of contract.
Undefeated Welsh fighter Calzaghe announced last month that he was splitting with long-time promoter Warren and would be representing himself in the final bout his career, an autumnal clash with Roy Jones Jr.
Calzaghe stated at the time that there were ‘issues to be resolved' and that he hoped that they would be done so ‘amicably’.
However, that now appears unlikely. According to The Sun, Sports Network boss Warren has lodged a writ with the High Court as he believes that The Pride of Wales owes him at least £1million for a breach of contract.
The impending legal action is a further blow for Calzaghe in a week in which he sustained a hand injury in training which has forced the postponement of his planned September 20 showdown with Jones Jr.

Not really surprising is it? - just bitter his cash cow has left before his biggest money-spinner.

this is business.. if they, as warren apparently thinks, do have a contract, then thats it.. why on earth do contracts, if its not worth, the paper its written on..

if so, warren is entitled to his fair share..

although on the more personal level, it doesnt seem right, thats really besides the point..

Warren is no different to don king or any other big promoter, they don't really care about the fighters just how much money they can make him. If joe has breached a contract then he has every right to sue but if he was a decsent human being he may think **** it ive earned millions off joe so good luck to him.

Gut promoters arent decsent human beings

Did he try to sue hamed and hatton after he left them as well ????????:bart

If Joe was breaking away to make a competitive live fight that was good for the game - a fight Warren wouldn't warrant - I'd be totally on the side of Joe. As it is, the whole thing is all about money from both sides (and nothing more); so if someone has a contract (not sure if Joe actually does) you keep to it as far as I'm concerned. You reap what you sow.

I doubt they breached the contract.

Warren has big time lawyers---im sure cal did something to warrant this sue. Hes not going to sue him if he didnt breach something. A contract is a contract no matter if hes scum or not.

I THINK Warren only has a verbal agreement rather than a written contract....I may be wrong though??
