Warren said: “Alex Arthur is a fight I would definitely consider. At this stage in his career Alex doesn’t want to be fighting eight-rounders, he needs to be fighting for titles.
“When you add in the whole revenge thing and the fact that you have the all-Scottish angle with the East versus West aspect, it’s a great match.
“We want Ricky to be back in action before Christmas to make his first defence.”

Is it going to be a catchweight?:huh Arthur has been @140 his last few fights

I think burns has improved so much since the fight with arthur and now seems to believe in himself more. imo arthur not got much left and if this fight was to happen ricky would beat alex very comfortably and maybe even stop him.

I think Burns would stop him too, Arthur would be a corpse down at 130.

Plus, it's Burns' title, not a ''let's give every domestic fighter a payday'' belt.

Get someone in the top 10, the weakest of them if he wants, but let's keep it genuine.

its a way to make Burns allot of money with little risk. honestly would be disapointed if it happens.

Burns should make 2 defences in december and march and try and get a unification at a football ground next summer.

I agree. I think Burns v anyone would sell in Scotland at the moment. Alex Arthur is a very safe choice by Frank. I guess he's hoping the "revenge match" angle will overcome the "why is this guy even getting a title shot?" angle.

Even my grandad wants to watch his next fight..... the last fight he watched with interest was Bruno vs Lewis.

He'll definitely sell out a decent sized arena in Scotland like you say, but there's an obvious danger with there being a fair few decent domestic 130lb'ers that we end up with a merry go round.

What we want is Burns taking on the top dogs in the division and another lad (or more) earning their shots, rather than just getting them on basis of nationality.

    *Cough* Harrison *Cough* :hey

Terdsak Jandaeng is next on the WBO rankings. He's been crazy active and you may have seen him getting a pounding from JMM a few years ago.
The kid has a big heart and it would be another great fight. I don't think they'll take him on till next year though.

130 is a no-go for arthur now. Would be a cracking atmosphere though if it did happen. Braehead Arena or even a wee stadium somewhere.

I remember Burns said the better class of opponent the better he performs plus he belongs at world level .I hope he makes a good few defences man .Don't know but the better class of opponents the better for Burns's career probably .He does deserve a couple of easy paydays tho but I think he should stick to world contenders that way he becomes a better class fighter

I was away over weekend so didn't see the fight but was over the moon for him when i heard the result. I was at the Johanssen fight in Leeds and he showed a lot of balls to get through that night too. He had it tough coming through and he's obviously learnt from the set backs and it's made him a better fighter. I was sat near his mum that night and she was going through hell watching her son getting up off the floor so many times, so i said to her after that she should be very proud of his performance that night. Bet she's on cloud nine now. Well done Ricky Burns, proper fighter.
As for an Arthur fight...he'd be dead at 130 again, and even if he wasn't the new Burns would have too much IMO.:good

Dont like this fight at all , I always felt Fwank squandered Arthurs best years and now he wants to throw to him the lions for an easy night. Burns lost to a just about peak Arthur ( no ****ing shame in that ) beating the remnants of him now does nothing for him. He's on the world stage now.

and no way no how ( short of surgery ) is Alex getting down to 130
