Read this morning that Conlan is in talks too fight Lopes next, so if Mickey was too pull off the win that could be a big fight over here.
Can Warrington still headline DAZN cards? If it’s not for a title or against Conlan then I don’t think so. Wouldn’t surprise me if Hearn discards him now
It can't really be compared Warrington has one fight left on his contract with Matchroom and he showed last night that he still belongs to the world's elite. Who else has Matchroom got that can headline a show ?
Warrington looked done after his long Covid break and defeat to Lara. Long career, some great wins but he was badly busted up in that Lara fight and that defeat for me finished him at the top table. I don't count a rematch with old Kiko as a sign of improvement. Apart from loot, there is no sporting reason for him to carry on with nothing to prove and he is going to end up with a Chisora CV losing to fighters he would have beat easily at the time when he beat Selby and Frampton. He may headline another show but he is done and should think carefully about his health now.
Whilst I think Warringtons best days are behind him, people are making out that he got battered last night. He only lost in a very close fight...use of his head was shocking though! Still I look forward to him playing a leading role in 'Silence of the RAMs', or perhaps RAMbo.
Agreed, without the Leeds and Elland Road thing, let's just say he was from Mansfield or Blackpool, he wouldn't have been seen as marketable enough to delay fighting Selby for 3 years and then he gets beaten early in his career and very quickly forgotten about. I fell for it though, after the Frampton fight I genuinely thought he'd proved himself until Barry entered the equation and everything since that has shown him up for who he is, a bit of a toerag who probably achieved more than he should have. I'd like Lara to have another go at him though.
Looked done for 3.5 years pretty much. Lots of wear & tear. In hindsight Warren did a great job with him, put him in with the right opponents until Frampton and Selby were there for the taking.
I was kinda joking about Warrington / Chisora but in hindsight, until not that long ago Del could just about be relied upon to go 12 rounds with most people in the top 10. It's only really the Fury fight that showed him up and he's pretty shop-worn now. You could see Warrington giving good fights to pretty much anyone at his weight but with every fight there's more chance he loses again. As for who else could headline... cue Eddie going on about Canelo and AJ - beneath those there's almost nothing there. Wood is probably as good as it gets in the UK.
Joking aside, it's actually sad how thin Matchroom's stable is. I think we should expect to see a lot of female fights on Matchrooms UK Shows in 2023. They are cheap and relatively easy to arrange.
