For **** sake, missed this little gem too, are you guys even watching the same fight as me.

    Why didnt Guida punch more?

Because Pettis maintained wrist control through the fight. Yet even though this could be considered stalling from Anthony, and Guida actually showed aggression by usng his shoulder instead of punching when he could have actually layed there, it's Guida who was stalling and not being aggressive....

Even though Petts seemed content to sit in guard, and Guida's attempts to pass and improve position occasionally gave Pettis the room to throw his legs up in an attempt at a triangle attempt, it's Anthony being the aggressor because Clay sacrificed a dominant position in an attempt to improve his own, which left him vulnerable as Ive said

Seriously? Guys Im mean this, are you ****ing serious?

Guida look like he was trying to shag him every rnd! IMO the scoring needs changing big time pettis was very active from his back, clays style is ugly, boring but effective under these rules I want to see him get k.o'd big time!

If they wanted to change the rules to stop stalling, then Pettis would have been eating punches all night instead of grabbing Clay's wrist

While we are at it, lets ban defence altoghter so the ******s on this forum can't spam us with 'Errrr its so boring' comments instead of having the attention span to notice what is actually happening

If people can't appreciate grappling then they're not real mma fans.

Pettis didn't choose to be on his back. Guida chose to go for the takedown. The FACT is that Pettis was much closer to actually finishing the fight from his back then Guida was from top position. Guida took it where he was SAFEST, not where he was most likely to finish the fight. He tried to pass the guard and when he couldn't, he still decided to take Pettis down and just avoid subs and hope that being on top would win the fight rather than try to stand and win by knockout.

You must be trying not to see what's going on if you look at Pettis getting wrist control as stalling. He was getting wrist control to go for triangles and armbars which he did over and ****ing over again TRYING TO FINISH THE FIGHT. Unless you think that Guida was going to finish with shoulder strikes or the actual takedown, tell me what he did on the ground that actually had any chance of finishing.

:patsch How the **** is using wrist control to go for subs stalling? It's not like he just held them and did nothing. He went for about a hundred subs in there. Yet somehow laying in the guard throwing two inch shoulder "strikes" is now great grappling.

The whole point of my post is if you see what Guida was doing a stalling, then Pettis is worse for hanging on to his wrists. Like you said if Guida felt safer on the ground because Anthony had an advantage in the striking and that's a critism then the same can be applied to Pettis. Clay came as close to finishing the fight with shoulder strikes as Pettis did with the subs, ie it went the distance
And I seem to remember there was only the arm bar attempt that was even remotely close to a sub, is that enough to justify giving the fight to Pettis on agression, as Ive stated earlier, Clay is not the best finisher, but he was certainly agressive

Instead of hoping that Guida would make a mistake so he could sink in the sub, why didnt Pettis just stuff the TD and khtfo?

Why are we holding a trial for guy who executed his gameplan to a Tee? Like Stoo said, equal blame can be put on Pettis for holding wrists.

He had one sub attempt in 15 minutes, how is that more aggressive grappling when he wouldnt even let Clay punch him in the FACE!
