They are but nostalgia kicks In with boxing

They Don't realise that greatest and best are different

Personally I think jones at his best is unbeatable at 160-168, but it doesn't mean he has the greatest resume

It wasn't the best year ever, but the 90's was the last great decade for boxing. 1999 was a fine year.

Looking at that list I see six certified ATGs, and two borderline ATGs.

In comparison to boxing the last decade is was an excellent year. Today the only two ATGs fighting are Canelo, and Pacquiao who has one foot out the door.

I was born in 1980... 1999 was definitely up there as one of the greatest years of my lifetime.
Also mix in that you had two enormous fights that year in Lewis vs Holyfield and ODH vs Trinidad.
Neither fight lived up to the hype, but looking back now it's rare that we get two super fights like that just a few months a part.

It goes to show how poor Lennox Lewis's boxing skills were perceived as he became undisutped HW champion that year and was still outside top 10 pfp. Even Wlad cracked the top 3 during his reign.

    Who?

The obvious are: Jones, Floyd, Tito, DLH, Hopkins and Morales. Borderline being Mosley. Would you consider Lopez borderline? Too Sharp?

Tito and Mosley are borderline. Finito is definitely an ATG.

There's no way Finito is above Tito or Mosley. A pretty record isn't enough to go above them.

Oh, your one of those who don't factor in losses.

Tito lost to DLH, Winky, Hopkins, in his prime. Then post prime lost to Jones.

Tito also avoided Whitaker and Quartey when it mattered.

Mosley lost to Forrest twice, Winky twice, and DLH in his prime.

Mosely best win was a close fight against a distracted DLH.

Neither Mosley or Tito were ever as dominant as Lopez, or as skilled as him.

Oh, you're one of those guys who think they're cool because they overrate little guys they barely know about.

Tito never lost to DLH. For all the controversy surrounding that fight, I've never once scored it for DLH. If Oscar didn't run like a thief for the last third if the fight, he'd have taken it. You're being flat out dishonest if you think Tito was prime for Winky. He was fighting once ever two years, won his first title 12 years earlier, and looked dreadful in his previous fight. Furthermore, what's wrong with losing to Hopkins? One of the best middleweights ever, vs someone two divisions smaller. No wonder he lost. At least he had the balls to move up.

What's there saying he ducked them? He beat the man who beat Ike, and actually fought Whitaker when he was on the right 'side of the street'. Lopez on the other hand, never bothered facing Too Sharp, Chiquita, Carbajal, Yuh or Arbachakov. He has more than happy defending against endless nobody's. And if you're saying that DLH arguably beat Tito, you need to come to the reality that Alvarez arguably beat Lopez. Not once, but twice.

Lopez may not have lost to anyone on Winky's level, or Forrest's, but he never fought someone on that level either. And he certainly never beat anyone as good as DLH - however you wanna spin it.

Mosley and Tito were twice as talented as Lopez, and they weren't fighting bums the whole time.
