Admitting Hops is an old man doesn't take away from it being a good win for JC....it was!

If thats why you're holding so hard to this crazy idea that age wasn't a factor than don't. JC gets big credit for himself being old and beating an even older but still world class Hops.

I'm going to drop out of this debate right now as a favor to you.

The more you try to argue that Hops age was irrelevant the goofier you seem.

Nothing personal but I hate to see someone come off as a blind fan boy or borderline ******ed. And arguing your side makes you either or.

So we'll agree to disagree....even though you are dead wrong :thumbsup

Umm...he was 43 years old!!!! Of course it was a factor. Hopkins is still a good fighter at 43, but to act like age is not even a factor is dumb as hell. Michael Jordan was still an all-star at 40, but it was obvious that age was a factor as he had to pace himself differently and change his gameplan to attempt to compensate for his diminished physical abilities. Same applies to Hopkins.

Nigel Benn is only a year older then Hopkins and Eubank is two years younger then Hopkins is now. Of course age doesnt matter he should fight Benn now as well after he's taken care of RJJ.

Every bit as flawed logic as saying that a 43 year old man's condition had no influence on a fight where he dropped his opponent in the first and obviously ran out of condition before the younger started building up the points.

Most of the assholes that say Hopkins age wasn't a factor are these new boxing fans that never seen Hopkins pre De La Hoya. They never seen Hopkins vs Trinidad/ Echols/ Mercardo/ Allen/ Joppy/ Johnson ect ect

There is absolutely no question that age WAS a factor in the fight.

Age was definitely a factor. Only a tool, Joe Calzaghe Jr. or Blocky would suggest otherwise.

Yes, age was a factor. This was why I chose JC to win their fight. Bhop is still good but not good enough to hang with the elites. Maybe if this fight happened 8 years ago I would have chosen Bhop to win.

Hopkins is FORTY-THREE years old.....of course age was a major factor in his last fight as well as his previous dozen fights! In the early years Hopkins was a killer, but now, because of his old age and thus the decline of his physical tools, he has been forced fight strictly as a defensive counter-puncher. Throughout these last few years he has had to rely totally on his skill and ring smarts to rack up victories.

Age was a factor for both fighters. But everyone is feeling sorry for Hopkins because he got worn down by a past his prime Calzaghe. Hell, on Wed. night fights tonight Teddy Atlas said he thought Hopkins was looking for a way to get out somewhat gracefully in the 10th round by faking a low blow, and he said he had never seen Hopkins in a position before where he did not know what to do. Atlas, "He was tapped on the cup like a referee checking to see if the guy is wearing his cup." Not my words, like Atlas or not, but he's seen a lot in this business. Also the fact that Calz. was able to overcome the curse of Teddy Atlas (Atlas picked Calz. him to win) is further proof that Calz. is a great fighter.

Question. How old was Archie Moore when he was last a champion? I think he was like 44 or 45 but anyone know his age exactly?

I don't know where you get about what you said that everyone is feeling sorry for hopkins, i didn't feel sorry for him. Not everyone here is a hopkins fan. Nobody is saying age is a factor because they feel sorry for hopkins, it was a fact.

You made part of my point by not mentioning that age was a factor for past his prime Calzaghe also.
