:rofl Marky do you remember that gif of Nicky Piper, it read something like 'why you mad? cus I will knock out your bouncer mates' Not sure how it went but it was hilarious.
shame Trav lost last night, the North East is in big need of a top pro boxer. Said it a few times, pretty much every major city/region has one apart from the North East - we have never really had one (not in my time anyway). We get these poor cards on at the O2 Academy and are expected to pay £35 to watch fighters who are never going to amount to anything. Wil be nice to see JL Dickinson in feb though - hopefully in central newcastle - maybe against dawson now?
Some people have only seen Ajisafe in his fight with Bellew when he looked quite raw. Another couple of years training at the Ingle gym has made him a much more accomplished fighter, :good
I've never really been all that impressed with either of the Dickinson's to be honest. They're decent fighters with potential, but I doubt their credentials against genuinely championship class opponents.
good report here : http://news.boxrec.com/news/2012/ajisafe-impresses-snapping-dickinsons-unbeaten-record :good
ok mate, I just won by ko on Saterday, I've got an amateur record of 6 won 5 and avenged my only defeat. I recon if I ever did do unlicensed again I could beat that guy who beat me as well. You look it up mate, I won by KO on the forrest Hall show Saterday. Tosser. atsch
Yeah I know mate. The standard of those O2 shows are **** poor. The sad thing is the North East is known as one of the best regions for amateur boxing in the country. It's always us, North West or London with the best boxers but it doesn't seem to translate well in the pro ranks does it. I think Travis will bounce back to be honest, I don't think he was senior for very long as an amateur (unlike John) so I think he will come good given time. Birtley boxing gym is argubley the best amateur gym in the country now. I'm going to try to get down to John's next one. Yeah mate, Ajasif's a tough contender. He gave Bellew a hard run and Bellew is competing at world level now and he beat McKenzsie and tbh I think he just had a bad style for Travis. Thanks a lot mate. :good
Well if you knew as much about boxing as you think you do you'd surely know someone who was at the show or you could check warrior boxing if you you were involved with the amateur game as well to check my record. I couldn't care what you think about me tbh, I'm putting you on ignore, you talk a load of disrespectful rubbish with a ridiculous amount of arrogence and ignorance and try to get a bite out of me constantly even though you seem to think you have a moral high ground over me, despite starting arguments and being disrespectful all the time for nothing. Guess you've never heard of warrior boxing but you'll still ignorantly think there's no way of checking up amateur records. Good bye.
Michael Hunter was the last person we had at that level. Stuart Hall and Jon-Lewis Dickinson are our main guys right now, with Paul Truscott not far behind (although his time at championship level seems to have went). We also have some decent prospects like Glen Foot, Bradley Saunders, Simon Vallily (still yet to make his debut), Kirk Goodings, Martin Ward and Travis Dickinson, but we're far behind every other region right now it would seem. It's just a shame Tony Jeffries had to retire, as he was getting boxing going again in the region. I saw his fight last year when he took apart Darren Stubbs, which was a very efficient performance. Definitely a different fighter to the one that got a fortunate decision over Ovill and struggled with Bellew.
Hey I just genuinely thought that was funny. I know we'll never agree on things out of the ring (to put it mildly) but don't take things to heart. & I'm defo not harassing anyone!
Martin Ward is a solid prospect and his brother Tommy should be decent as well. I think a lot of our boxers seem to like to stay amateur and there aren't as many good pro gyms up here. I don't really rate any of the boxers on the shows at the O2 academy tbh other than Tommy Ward who occaisionly boxes on them. I just don't think Jefferies heart was in it anymore tbh, it's a shame because him against Travis would have been cracking and I think it would have got the region excited.
agree with what lot of people have said. gutted travis lost as had high hopes for him but he has been too inactive for me and this was a tough fight but he needs to win fights like this if he is gonna be successful domestically. thought travis had more potential out fo the brothers but is still abit raw whereas jld has improved and has a great confidence about himself now. looks like saunders has the best chance of being a future champ in north east. just hope we can get some decent cards up here for a change. like the look of saunders and foot both have good styles and should be involved in title fights over next 12-18months. where and when you fighting next iceferg?
