I've had 35 amature matches and though it wasnt too bad till the end of the 9th...and I though HBO was takeing it a little far with all the "hes gonne die" stuff but it should have been stopped at the end of the 9th.
Like I said in the other thread he should fire his corner and the ref should be fined. He took way too much punishment.
It's on the corner to stop that fight. Most refs will not stop a fight when the guy is still punching, and Tsurkan was throwing punches up until the end. Lampley went a little overboard, but I do think the corner should have stopped it earlier. And I don't know what that guy thought he was accomplisihng by waving that towel around; he should have thrown it into the ring, right at the ref.
No. But, for example, I also didn't think Leavander Johnson would die either. I ahve seen worse beatings than last nights fight, which have resulted in serious damage for a fighter. In fact, the Chavez/Johnson fight was less one-sided than Angulo/Tsurkan.
As a cornerman you do what is in your fighter's best interest if the fighter is in too deep. As a fighter you advise the people who work with you when you are in too deep. I don't feel as if the fight should have been stopped at all. Had Tsurkan been in as much trouble as Lampley said, he would simply have taken a knee. In 2007 Nate Campbell/Ricky Quiles was the same if not even more brutal and Quiles advised his corner to NOT stop the fight. These guys are warriors! They want to go out as such. Were it Art the store clerk, I would agree with stopping it because Art isn't a trained professional. This guy, Tsurkan, is as determined to give his all to fight fans win or lose. He knows his job and he does it damn good if I say so myself. Remember this guy in 10 years when you mention the toughest men of our era. He should be known as one of them.
your a ****ing idiot shut your mouth just because he didnt take a knee doesnt mean your not in trouble no one knows whats going on inside of there body or head anything can happen i doubt oscar diaz felt he was about to collapse i doubt du koo kim figured he would die that night your a moron just shut up
Exactly. If the fighter wants to continue, if he is punching back, then he should be allowed to continue. Period! Modern boxing fans are a bunch of women - if they don't like a little blood and guts, maybe they should watching tennis. Instead of praising tough fighters and wanting them to have their opportunity to finish the fight, they ***** and moan. Like I said, it's this squeamish attitude that disgusts me. I don't get where the **** it comes from. When I was growing up, boxing fans wanted fights to go to their natural conclusion!
It was very hard to watch. I cannot believe his corner did NOTHING. He should fire them all and the ref should be reprimanded or fired. How is it that we all saw it needed to be stopped, yet the real pros (his corner and the ref) missed it?
(adub215. "I'm sorry ma'am, I didn't mean to upset you.") I won't cuss you out because you are not an entire idiot. You just know absolutely nothing about a fighter's mentality and you don't know what "fight" means. "Fighters" take those risks . They usually say a prayer before entering the ring and YES they all relate to the fact that this could be their last fight. I wont discuss Oscar Diaz with you but I will say this, <IF A MAN OPTS TO GET PUNCHED IN HIS FACE FOR A LIVING HE IS EITHER DESPERATE, STUPID OR A PURE WARRIOIR!> I prefer to call the pugilists who I respect and love "WARRIORS". Call Tsurkan (if you aren't just a blog idiot) and ask him if he wanted the fight stopped. He'd probably hang up in your face. I talked to Quiles' entire corner after he fought Nate. They made many attempts to stop the fight BUT Ricky Quiles has never been stopped! That is his legacy. Talk to the people on here that are on your level. I am way too far above you on this scene for you to tell me ****!
yea u wont discuss oscar diaz or kim or johnson or anyone else who was seriously hurt because that proves ur point wrong those guys didnt want to quit either thats what the corners there for no fighter is going to quit most will die before they quit thats one of the reasons the corner is there but it is a fight worth letting a fighter die for ? ur a ****in idiot if u dont see how stupid u sound ill lend u a gun to blow ur head off u moron shut the **** up
and dont know **** i fought 24 amatuer fights 17 pro fights 16 fights in the marine corps what have you done besides talk to people and i now train amatuers from time to time
As usual . . . you are stupid as **** . . . that's why there are corner men, that's why there's a ref and a Doctor . . . these people should use their better judgements . . . . if the fighter is receiving too much punishments without any chance of winning the fight . . . then somebody should exercise their right to halt the fight. And don't ever quote me again . . . clown. Earn some credibilty first before you deal with me. Dumbass! :deal
