Was anyone else disgusted by Kovalev prolonging the Pascal beating?

It was especially unsettling to me considering the fact that Kovalev has already had an opponent that died as a result of the injuries sustained by him and he's beaten Pascal before. Kov intentionally making that fight last longer in order to "punish" Pascal is pretty disgusting when you think about it. That's...literally torturing a man in the boxing ring. I see it as a disrespect to boxing. It isn't the same as trying to knock a man out; it's simply inflicting as much damage as you can. The fact that Kovalev, again a man that has already directly killed an opponent, wanted to this is pretty psychotic.

I understand your train of thought. But the point of pro boxing is to inflict as much damage to your opponent as possible.

Think about it. Many people consider Kovalev the world's best fighter. And that's in large part due to his ability to punish people.

Kovalev felt disrespected by Pascal. You left that detail out.

Wasn't intentional. I actually thought I did mention that but after rereading that you're right and I completely omitted that. My point still stands though.

I think I would feel better about it if Kovalev hadn't already killed someone. Then I would just say "Oh, he was just upset and wanted to beat him up. Makes sense.", but after the Roman Simakov fight I would think that Kovalev would show a little more concern for someone to not prolong a beating. Just try to knock the man out ffs.

I understand you're train of thought no doubt. My only 2 defenses of his behavior are like I said; it's boxing and Kovalev felt disrespected.

Did you see Kovalev's instagram post of him beating on Pascal? Where he said he was so happy to end the career of the piece of **** Pascal?

Wow I did not see that at all. That is... you know what, I've decided that I'm rooting against Kovalev now lmao. This man is the real life Ivan Drago.

Pascal is still not giving Kovalev respect. He lost the bet saying that he would last more than 8 rounds. He's supposed to give 50k to Kovalev's charity of choice. He never did that. And when asked why he was so easily beaten by Kovalev his response wasn't very complementary. He said "power". And didn't bother to elaborate except saying he hits shockingly hard.

It's hardly just Kovelev though is it? Mike Tyson used to take great pleasure in hurting and knocking his opponents senseless, and also remember Chavez prolonging his sickening beating of Greg Haugen.

That is also hilarious. I guess I can imagine being bitter about that loss but man... Why did Pascal act like a jerk to Kovalev? I remember him calling Kov a racist, but I find that kind of unlikely since Kov has a black trainer. I wasn't following either fighter at the time of that at all so everything I learned has just been from little tidbits of information I gathered afterwards.

Yea both Pascal and Kovalev are to blame for the beatdown and prolonged beatdown.

Kovalev for administering it. And Pascal for provoking Kovalev by acting like a POS.

If Kovalev ends up having an easy time against Ward I expect him to try and prolong the pain.

Kovalev has had nothing, but respect for Ward. Saying he doesn't know if he can beat Ward. Aknowledging that Ward is the best opponent of his career.

Meanwhile Ward has refused to shake hands with Kovalev. Says he wants to take food off of Ward's table. Which BS, Ward is a wealthy Bay area guy. And that Kovalev is just another fight in his life.

I'm not saying Ward has to be complementary to Kovalev. But that is going to make Kovalev want to hurt him.

Tyson usually tried to get the guy out of there as soon as he could from what I've seen. That isn't really the same thing. Ha, the Chavez fight you mentioned is actually the same week I was born. I didn't know that until now.

Yeah but Tyson still loved to hurt and knock people out and he also didn't mind giving them a beating either. I'm not condoning Kovelev but if you read interviews he clearly feels very bad about Simakov's death.
