Was Anyone Else Surprised At Cotto's Lack Of Ability To Fight Under Pressure?

    Correct Me If Im Wrong..

But In My Eyes Although Cotto Did A Good Job Of Boxing Margarito... He Was Never Truly Comfortable With The Way Margarito Was Persuing Him...

To me this was evident in his lack of trading with margarito during stand still exchanges, and just his demeanor going into the 2nd half of the fight

I think maybe the fact that margarito never displayed any signs of letting cotto's punches get to him took away from cotto mentally also

I think Cotto was surprised he walked through some of his bombs. I think that got to him mentally.

Pissed me off Cotto had NO body attack because he could hit Margo at will in the head.

It was AM style, endurance, will, power, size and chin, that beat Cotto, biggest mistake is Cotto was the ropes, cotto needed to keep off them, but he is no mayweather.

AM was the perfect fighter, and perfect style to beat AM, i called it b4 the fight no shock too me

Look; he was in with a guy bringing constant pressure - not educated, constant. Once he'd tested Cotto he was never off him. Nobody would ever be "comfortable" in with such a man without being able to hurt him, which Miguel couldn't.

Cotto didn't do a lot of body punching because you need to be slightly more "set", planted for these punches, especially if you are not working them off the jab. He just didn't feel able to do that.

thats the thing though... in my eyes..

The fact that cotto was scared of the pressure never let him settle down..

to throw powerful body punches you need to set your feet...
cotto was bothered by that pressure and never got a chance to settle down and really throw his punches... he was continually on the move... rewatch the fight there wasnt one moment really that had a standstill exchange between cotto and marg away from the ropes

to neurtalize that pressuring... you use hugs or drop your shoulder into the opponent and the opponent cant move forward and neither of you can throw any effective punches.. there has to be a break in the action and that break allows you to trade again...

watch campbell and diaz as an example of this... that whole fight they were so close you could throw a hoola hoop around them and they could have faught inside of that hoola hoop

He fought well for as long as he could but eventually was broken down, he landed some insane punches on Margarito.

Cotto set his feet to land to Margos head. He landed like near 300 punches. Head hunted.

He landed everything off the back foot and thus no power.

Looking at the swelling around the eyes and mouth, it was a classic broken nose sympton.

He would have been breathing through his mouth and sucking in blood internally.

Cotto will go the full 12 in a rematch and beat Margarito.

Margo was blocking his body with those long arms of his. Cotto didnt have any openings to land to the body. Stupid gameplan on Margarito's part to let Cotto tee off on his head but it works when you have a chin made out of adamantium.
