Was anyone in heavyweight history capable of knocking out or stopping Muhammad Ali?

Several fighters could have done it. But would they? I wouldn't bet on it.

Joe Frazier accomplished the kd, and he wasn't the hardest left hooker in history...Jack Dempsey was superior to Henry Cooper in every way, and he could have done it.....whether he would or not is a moot point, but he was capable of it, as was Louis, of course, as others and maybe I have already mentioned....(Tyson, just as dangerous as Louis, has already been mentioned)

Of course if Ali had to face Dempsey or Tyson 100 times he would be KOd at some point.

However, in a one off fight in this 1967-77 period I dont see Louis catching him - I mean Liston couldnt- and Tyson went the distance with James Tillis - a pale imitation of Ali.

I think the HW with the best chance would probably be Lennox Lewis - enough though he didnt have a great left hook

I agree, anyone can be knocked out. That being said, Ali took some wicked shots from Shavers when well passed his prime. Somebody, sometime, might land a bomb somehow, but, there is no one I would bet money on to do it.

Hagler's chin wouldn't be rated as great if he ventured outside of middleweight. Do you think Hagler could take full blooded shots from the likes of Mike Spinks? I would say Durans chin is underrated and more impressive than Hagler's. He stepped out of lightweight to take on monsters, taking the best shots of damn near all of them.
