Was Arum cashing out on Pac when he threw him to the De La Hoya fight?

Just made me wonder about the big picture. We are talking about Arum milking his cash cow NOW, but in 2008 was Arum intent on cashing out on Pac by throwing him to De La Hoya?

There are many things to consider; many were under the assumption that Pac was on the slide by Marquez II, and many experts had Pac losing to DLH at the time of signing. Pac had been producing marginal PPV revenues before then.

Perhaps Arum realized he had a valuable commodity in Pac and decided to start milking his "post-Oscar superstar status" after the Cotto fight, perhaps because he had just seen Floyd dismantle one of Pac's greatest rivals?

That is what everyone thought including *******s and *****s (even before they had this rivalry). Now everything is downplayed because Pac pulled off the upset.

I think Arum is a smart enough dude and well enough in the know to be pretty certain Oscar was shot.

Arum thought ODLH was shot when just about everyone else thought he was going to destroy Pac?

    Right.....

Almost no one cared that DLH was past his prime. They all put so much emphasis on the size difference. One left hook would've finished Pac.

According to Arum (whatever his word is worth), he was hesitant to make the fight due to the size difference and Oscar insisted.

Manny over weight drained DLH was not an upset though. People picked DLH purely because he was a big name fighter, but he was done just like how Hatton was done when Manny fought him.

I think that Bob was chasing the money. Listen, Pac has losses on his record. If he lost to Oscar then so what? Oscar was meant to win. The Goldenboy was the holy grail as far as money was concerned.
That being said, i think he may have thought he'dget a result with bringing Oscar down in weight and his inactivity. I remember being disgusted by the match at the time. Didn't think Pac stood a chance.

I'm talking about before the weigh-ins. Hatton was not done before the Manny fight. Quit being a dumbass and stop downplaying Pac's accomplishments like you predicted them.

not to mention that Roach had an inside track on DLH's state as a fighter
