It's an OK opponent and probably just enough to impress, as it's his first outing at heavy. The saga went on for so long though that I was just pleased to here any name in the end.

    Looking forward to the fight.

wrong. it was Eddie Chambers PERIOD. tony thompson was another far better choice. it's an ok fight but certainly not the 'best available'. i would have rather seen haye against chambers, thompson, arreola, iggy, toney, dimitrenko, ahunanya, hell even Danny Williams would have tested Haye

some of u brits are too funny. u should try to be a little more objective. haye should have fought chambers. that fight was right there for him to accept but he or booth chose the "37-year old journeyman" for some reason. for those who haven't seen eddie fight, the guy has fast hands, a very sharp right hand, good left hook to the body, quality jab, slick upperbody movement, solid chin. His problems are conditioning, lack of foot movement, and size. still, he's a far more legit than barrett is....and chamber's is a legit top 10 hw imo period! povetkin's workrate overwhelmed eddie. haye is far more deliberate. chambers would have given haye fits. a win against chambers would have legitamized haye as a hw in my mind.

i remember Haye and bunce dismissed barrett as a nobody but all of sudden have built him back up since he's become the opponent. rofl!!! which is it?

He's still better than Hasbeen Rahman but not by much. haye said every hw was a "bum" yet he turns down Peter. Now he calls out Vitali....dude has lost his **** completely. i really doubt Haye would even consider fighting vitali.

but if Haye does well for himself, i will certainly admit i was wrong and give him his credit. but at the same time, i hope u all will give Wlad/Vitali credit when they knock him out for as much as u hype the man.

im American and i actually prefer euro fighters for the most part...Acutally, Lennox is one of my top 5 favorite boxers ever. But imo, Haye is an annoying **** talker who has accomplished nothing at hw yet many of his British cheerleaders say he's going to steamroll the division. he disprespects everyone yet has proven nothing at 200+.

as for my reasoning why i think he'll have trouble at hw.....
    *soft chin combined with
*poor defense and body positioning eg)))
-keeps body very low > allows fighters to shoot down at him while
    he has to punch upwards
    -keeps hands low
    -leans forward

Im also skeptical of his stamina and speed at hw especially late into fights. his fans seem to think his speed, reflexes and ego will compensate for these liabilities.

We'll see who ends up right. I like my chances :yep

and another thing. Bunce is way off base calling Tony Thompson a coward or something to that effect. Dude ate a **** load of right hands from one of the hardest punchers around and didn't go.

It was the punching and clinching that wore tony down. wlad hit him to the body as well. he didn't quit. he was broken down...simple as that.

anyone who can't see that is DELUSIONAL. all this dude does is rip wlad. give the man some credit ffs.

his childish hate for wladimir is quite disturbing. i reckon Bunce is posting under "Uppercut83" and "The Great" in the general forum :yep :yep

None of the fights you mention are better except maybe Toney. Barrett has momentum, the others don't.

He keeps his body low so his below the punches. He doesn't shoot up, he explodes upwards from angles. Ask Enzo.

Hands are low but in shoulder roll.

Leans forward to get the fight to commit so he can counter.

Eddie Chambers was a better fight. I think that was too much of a risk to take for Haye at this stage. Barrett is a good opponent for the time being.

:yep :yep :yep :yep This is funny because it's so true! Barrett is a decent test, he really is a gatekeeper in that division, a test anyone truly world class has to pass convincingly!

Barrett is a good fight for Haye and a goos step up opponent that gives him recognition in the states. I certainly prefer this fight to Haye fighting some Euro bum, Skelton or an old cop out like Toney or Rahman.

What is risky about Chambers? I think Haye is a better version of him. Faster, stronger, more powerful, more skilled, in shape etc

i would of said personally that mormeck before the haye fight was considerably higher P4P then barrett is before this fight.

Don't see the point of Haye facing Chambers.

Chambers could make CW, he was 213lbs for the Brock match and looked to be carrying a bit of weight.

What's the point in Haye going to HW and then taking for a first match someone that is basically a slightly fatter version of a natural cruiserweight?

Mormeck is definatly better than Barret, I feel the only reason people are seeing this as maybe a bigger test is because of the weight climb which haye has in fact already done before.
