Great boxing skills and know how, but he could'nt put those skills and put it all together agains talented speedier fighters. Roy Jones beat him early in his career and Jermaine Taylor and Joe Calzaghe late during the time he was still dominating fighters like Tarver and Pavlik, fighters at his speed level or below.

Could'nt handle the speed so no, he was never "thee guy."

With this ludicrous post you've proved you belong on the ballet board not the boxing How in hell could Slappy Calzaghe really beat Hopkins when he cannot throw a legitimate scoring PUNCH!!!!
Talking of bitches the only ***** was Slappy. He bitched out of a return match with Bernard at home in Wales.
Slappy is not fit to carry Bernards jockstrap. Slappy is sniffin, drinkin chasing ho's & hunting innocent rabbits. Bernard is still kickin ass!!!!!!

    :bbbBernard:bbb :|Calzaghe:|

Oh, definitely. Everyone is. Guys careers were all but done by the time they were thirty back in the day, now everybody is boxing into their forties. Archie Moore straight up did not look anything like Bernard Hopkins at that age. Hopkins is still great because he's beating guys half his age who are on the same stuff, and if it were just the juice he would have been out of commission ten years ago, but every little bit helps.

You have to understand as well that he fight taking place in Madison Square Garden was a factor to all the boos he was receiving. There are probably more Puerto Ricans living in New York than in Puerto Rico so anytime a fighter from PR steps in the Garden he's gonna have a large crown behind him.

Welcome aboard! And don't let anybody give you ****. Boxing is a beautiful sport. Ask away anytime.

no hopkins was good still but not great. he was a good deal west of best -everyone is well into their 40s. joe knew this and enjoyed laughing at a gassed 40something in the late rounds.

But he didn't though did he?

The result was contentious and really it was Hopkins who let himself down by trying to slow the pace of the fight down.

He was never the biggest draw in the game like a Mayweather or De La Hoya all his biggest PPV's were against more popular fighters. He was ignored and under rated during most of his middleweight reign. The fight with Tito drew 475,000 PPV buys which was probably his first PPV, the fight with Tarver 410,000, the fight with Taylor 370,000 and the fight with Wright 305,000. So he was a decent draw just not a huge one. Very similar to Jones Jr who's fight with Tarver drew 440,000 PPV buys.

    :deal

Joe Calzaghe made two American ATG's his bítches, in their own backyards. :rofl:rofl:rofl Not even the biased American judges could rob him, such was his dominance over these two pretenders. All hail Joe Calzaghe the Prince of Wales. :happy:happy:happy

in their 40's after someone else had dethroned them

    Haters gunna hate. :nut

Fact is Calzaghe flew over to America and absolutely spanked two of the best American boxers of all time, with their own personal referees and judges. Everybody knows Calzaghe was THE MAN. 46-0. No blueprint. Deal with it hater. :deal
