Have not seen the fight so I cant say but I read another poster say Bernard was more impressive in this loss than Joe C was winning. This seems to be the theme running through a lot of posts.

despite victory the fanfare seems to be a lot more sedate and reasonable than the extreme Hype surrounding Joe C prior to it.

How do posters see a fight with Dawson or Pavlik going? the only real opponents that mean a damn at this point for Calzaghe.

Yes, Hopkins was more impressive in the loss.

Bernard looked like the more skilled fighter in there exposing some of Calzaghe's flaws. Calzaghe exploited Bhops biggest flaw and plain outworked Bernard

The only flaw Hopkins had last night was the fact that age finally caught up to him.

Calzaghe did look uncomfortable and weary. I still respect him for being able to adjust towards the end of the fight.
However I think Hopkins fought a great fight, beautiful defensive moves and counterpunching, but sadly it wasn't enough to impress the judges.

Scoring a flash KD, winning two more rounds and holding excessively and faking low blow's blatantly was an impressive performance? His defence was still impressive, certainly, but he ruined that fight.

    What do you mean FINALLY?

He's been like this for ages, people are now using it to cover their own shitty predictions

That pretty much says it all. Reality is that Hopkins is 43 and his legs nor his stamina are what they were at 40, let alone 36. He was very impressive.

Just be thankful that Hopkins aged in this fight. Despite his low output, he was gased later in the fight. That is unheard of for a Hopkins fight as he always makes sure he has tons of energy for the later rounds.

Get ready for the age excuse!! JC is 36 and is not young for a boxer either!

It was you guys that constantly said Bhop was a slow starter etc..

Now please tell me when was the last time you didn't see Bhop finish strong and run out of GAS for the last rounds??

Thats one way to look at it and i think thats the best Hopkins could do.He was effective when he threw more punches but just didn't throw enough

It is what it is. Hopkins is a guy who always has tons of energy for the later rounds. Heck, his precise and calculated movements started to look sluggish as early as the 5th. Calzaghe simply took advantage of an old lion who had nothing left. That is the ONLY reason he had to fake those low blows. That is why his counter punching was so off as the fight wore on.

Just look at the first 3 rounds. One KD and one flush right hand that buckled him.
