Prime is nothing to do with age. Physicaaly BHOP was not at his peak beacause we peak physically between 28 and 32 on average. However, BHOP was at the heght of his powers in terms of skill, knowledge and tactically. JC dominated him from round 4 onwards.

Let me ask you this then. When does "get old overnight" become a valid excuse then? Do you expect Hopkins' body to hold up 2 years from now? Five years from now? At some point, the body just cannot do it anymore. And at his age, the sharp decline can happen overnight.

I don't know. I just find it too convenient he suddenly got old last night, against the only guy that has pressurised him and made him work for 12 rounds

Especially coming from a guy that got his prediction wrong. You know...that looks a little bit like somebody is trying to cover their ass to me

Let me get this clear. Hopkins 'got old' AGES ago. The only people that were oblivious to this are the people that picked him, such as yourself

Prediction wrong? Calzaghe won a tightly contest SD in a fight where most ringside observers had Hopkins winning 114-113. Hardly a convincing victory.

The main reason people aren't complaining is because they don't like Hopkins, though it's his own fault for making stupid comments. Everyone wanted him to lose so he would eat his words, either consciously or at least subconsciously.

But look at the facts. He had to fake low blows late in the fight in consecutive rounds to catch a breather. And this is a guy who makes sure he has energy for the later rounds and had never done anything like that in the past. His game plan was working but his body gave out on him.

That's just plain stupid. Does that mean Ali was prime when Spinks beat him, or Holmes when Tyson beat him, or Tyson when Lewis beat him, or SRL when Camacho beat hi, or DLH when PBF beat him, etc......

Physical age has everything to do with it

I'm not sure how much clearer I can make this. I KNOW Hopkins is old as ****, I KNOW he wasn't as his prime last night

However, the amusing thing is people like you that now suddenly claim he 'got old' after getting their prediction wrong, when he's been old for a long time - which is why many of us confidently picked Joe

You were too busy thinking about how good he looked against a very old Tarver, and a flabby light middle rather than analysing whether Hopkins is actually way too past it to beat Joe, and whether it would haunt him against an active fighter like Joe Calzaghe

Thats just poor analysis on your part I'm afraid, and your claims that he suddenly 'got old' make you seem a bit dense

    :hi:

That's honestly how i see it. I'm not using excuses. That's how i see it. Hopkins had plenty of stamina and looked fresh in every fight prior to last night. That tells me a lot. Had Hopkins had the stamina, i think he could've won.

Besides, you were wrong in your prediction also. You said Calzaghe would dominate Hopkins. :good

I was a lot closer than you sunshine :good

I underestimated how Hopkins cheating and spoiling would affect Joe, I must admit. I also underestimated Hopkins natural stylistic advantage in the early rounds, that cost Joe until he adjusted

You just got it plain wrong. But at least you live to fight another day, unlike Tyson86

Yes, Bernard was quite the more impressive in losing.

Despite scoring the fight clearly for Calzaghe, I was not impressed. Can't say the same about Hopkins.

Now Joe dominated 'Nard? That's pure nuthugger speak.

Joe landed maybe 2 shots all night that even made 'Nard blink.
