Was Brigg's defence against the over hand right the worst of all time?

First of all, big respect, you can't fault the man for heart. Briggs has some of the biggest balls in boxing history to take such a beating. But... he didn't seem to offer any kind of defence. Just kept taking it in the face, Hatton-style for 12 rounds.

What the **** was wrong with him? Surely, if you keep getting hit, with every single right hand, almost without exception, you'd at some point notice a pattern occurring? The pattern being: i'm keeping my left hand low, and I'm getting punched in the head, maybe i should do some sort of defence, maybe raise my hands?

His defense was absolutely horrible, his left was so low it looked like it was tied to his waist.....He has become so bulky over the years that he cant even really throw a punch correctly anymore.....lets be honest he should not even have been in there he was mismatched big time..Now his whole purse will go to Dr.Bills

I noticed straight away he was not stepping away from Vitalis attacks but i couldnt believe he didnt bother blocking either, just moving his head a little bit. You just cant do that against Vitali.

I was thinking the same thing. Your left hand low like that is not going to do anything against the literally hundreds of right hands hitting you from the same basic angle. Why not just put it up, at least pretend to try and block them, cuz your physical fitness sure as hell isn't favoring any other defensive tools.

Nah... Briggs rolled with a lot of the punches which is why i think he was able to last the 12 rounds. So it wasn't the worst... Margarito's defence against Mosley's right hand was worse

Briggs did ok sometimes but got tagged way too much. Where was his right hand? he wasn`t using it for defense or offence...

I dont think he actually could pick it up, he's so bulky now from weightlifting that he cant get out of his own way.

Vitlai looked good, but the fact is, Briggs had no defence - Vit couldn't miss, so it's heard to say just how good Vit was.

then again, Haye favours the low left hand too.
