upcoming prospect? First, he asks Ortiz if he is okay, and Ortiz responds by turning around and shaking his head (IMO, he should have stopped the fight right then and there.) Second, not only does he stop it, he take Ortiz over to the Doc and tells him, "Lets stop it." Seems to me that Caiz Sr. is on GBP's payroll.

I don't think so. Caiz failed to warn Maidana on the rabbit punches. If he was in GBP's pockets, he would've deducted a point already, if not that at least sternly warned Maidana.

But I do see your point of view. If a ref stops a fight early and it's at the expense of the fighter that's being promoted/hyped by the company, that ref just lost a chance to ref again for that promoter's future fights... so maybe that was on the back of Caiz's mind as he was contemplating stopping it...

Caiz was bad last night, Maidana got away with dozens and dozens of hard rabbit punches.

If he was getting paid out by GBP, the fight would have been stopped after the 2nd KD in the 2nd round.. it wasn't (shouldn't have been either).. but if he was payed out, that would have done it.

he could of easily ruled that cut as a headbutt, so i say no, but I did get the sense he was giving Ortiz a little more help than he should
