Also, he looked ****ing terrified. That wasn't your normal everyday blocking and slipping...that was wildly ducking below the waist and pressing your hands to your face for dear life.

I'm not justifying the stoppage, but I can see where the ref was coming from. some refs have weird ideas about when a fight's gone on long enough. I don't know about the pros, but I once heard some amateur refs discussing a show and the one said something to the effect of "I can always tell if a kid wants to keep fighting or if he just feels like he's expected to. If a kid looks like he wants out but doesn't want to give up, I stop it for him."

I have always been under the impression that the punches should at least land to justify a stoppage.

Asking whether it was a good stoppage isn't even a valid question.

It wasn't a good stoppage - no sane person could think it was.

The only real question can be, "Was it just a bad stoppage, or was it an awful, abysmal, embarrassingly bad stoppage?"

Hell, Joe Calzaghe probably thinks it was an awful, abysmal, embarrassingly bad stoppage. Everyone except that **** heel of a referee does.

It was a poor fight Manfredo was not in the same league as Joe and it was obvious he was going to be stopped or knocked out.He was not in serious trouble at the point of the stoppage but he wasnt throwing much back either,i think it was fair enough to stop it when the ref did.
