JC was a pretty slick boxer. His southpaw style reminded me of Sweet Pea. Pernell was a little slicker, but JC's punch output was higher, for sure. PS:pernell beat DLH, IMO.

Ok, you hater. I have never been a Joe C. fan, but I know a fighter that knows how to win, when I see one. The most recent fighters who had that will to win, IMHO, are JoeC.,Lennox Lewis, and Bernard Hopkins. Don't make me say Mayweather, cause I hate him.

Calzaghe may be many things, but slick is not one of them.

He never lost though. That's pretty slick. Manny Steward would set you straight. I remember him saying that Joe was a special fighter, and I agree. Unbiased, non-hugger here, but I've got to give the guy credit.

Horrible comparison ..Joe is a great champ but he and Whitiker are nothing alike ..Thats like comparing Joe C to Mayweather ..

I can't see how anyone can look at joe and compare him to pernell whitaker :huh

this guy basically fought two fights against an ancient Bhop which for many he lost and a shot to pieces Roy Jones pretty flimsy in light of the guys SweetPea engaged. Stop trying to hype and jiuce this guy into something he is not FFS.

when you fight 40 plus fights against garbage, you should be undefeated....at one point, Valleuv was 46-0

sven ottke was 36-0 when he retired.... no one cares....

its who you fight that makes you great

They are both southpaws , the comparisons end there.

Ok, so we differ on opinion, but I do have a case for him being a great fighter, FFS, he never lost, and you can't take that away from him. Am I crazy that I thought what Emmanuel Steward thought of Joe? I think he'll get his due in 30 years, he was good.

I'd say Joe Calzaghe was the modern day Sven Ottke. Leave it at that. If he unretires and beats Dawson and at least one other "live body" I'll boost him up to the tier above Ottke.

This is where you don't make much sense. Roy Jones Jr. was fighting part-time fighters on HBO and everyone was saying P4P king, yeah right. Joe fought everyone he could and beat them. The guy didn't have anyone that was capable of beating him. Tell me who he should have fought then?
