Who exactly should JC have fought? OK, Lucas, Beyer and Ottke and Sanavia, but they probably would never dream of fighting him.
Then outside his weight class there were Jones and Hopkins, who kept pricing themselves out of fights with him, and Johnson who lost to Omar Sheika (who JC beat).
    Thats about it.
Which top SMW's did Jones beat? How many taxi drivers and blown up welterweights did Hopkins beat prior to the Trinidad fight?

Joe calzaghe was a very special fighter (emanuel stewart), i wish he didnt retire so i could see him fight and win again. Its the way he made adjustments and controlled fights with tempo that seperates him from the pack. You are brave starting a thread like this some fans just want to knock fighters down.

I'm sorry but this is sheer BLASPHEMY of the very highest order!!!!!!

Watch Whitaker v Nelson, v Chavez, v McGirt I and II, v Ramirez II, v Haugen!

Joe Calzaghe was NOT similar in any way, was NOT anywhere near the same level of greatness either in terms of skill/ability or p4p, and does NOT deserve this comparison AT ALL!!

It's the same as saying "Was Hamed the modern day Willie Pep?", the answer is NOOOOOOOOOO!

Calzaghe had two styles 1993-2004 he was more of a puncher, most ******s on this forum didn't even know of Calzaghe back then and think his style is what we saw in 2006-2008, just fast flurrys. He chagned his style again when he broke his left hand in 2005 (that postponed the Lacy fight). He gets credit for fighting the last 3 years of his career in a completely different style and still winning.

Maybe you should watch hbo with the sound off Jones was taking allot more risks then Joe back in the 90's and the early part of 2000 ..It wasn't until he fought Lacy that people thought he stepped up !!

Jones dominated as long of not longer than Joe the diffrence is no one bothered to check what any of Joe's past opponents did on the side !

"Calzaghe has fought mostly in Europe against sub-par opposition. He's a European fighter who fights a little better than most Europeans. He relies on workrate but not so much technical boxing. His defense is not so much his criterion; his criterion is offense."

Well, when your fighting C and D class oppostion, like Calzaghe did during that time described, it's easy to get knockouts. I dont remember him knocking out anyone of B class or higher do you? I find it funny that he really only stepped up his competition in 06 when he fought Lacy that year, since then he has produced no knockouts over better competition.

This is the dumbest comparison of all time.

Can you imagine Sweet Pea getting knocked to the ground in the first round in two consecutive fights against shot, faded 40 year olds? I can't.

This is dumber than the Williams/hearns Comparison.

This should be the very last word on Joe Calzaghe. If you found his career 'great' then you must have been an obsessive fan of his.
