Following last nights win...it adds more fuel to the POT that Calzaghes Reign at supermiddle is very over rated.

His signature wins were LACY and more recently KESSLER....having seen how BASIC/average KEssler was agianst a novice but talented fighter like WArd...bring up this question.

During Joes 10 Years as WBO (WARREN BOXING Organisation) champon we have had some mediocre champs.

    Glenn Catley
    Mundine (Rugby League player)
    Sacia
Malinga (was shot and washed up)
    ....

The only time Joe Stepped up against an ELITE FIGHTER was HOPKINS (he was 43) and TAYLOR YES JERMAINE TAYLOR did the same 3-4 years prior!!

no doubt Joe is an excelelnt fighte rbut no way an ATG and very much borderline HOF....last night puts it into perspecive.

I don't place too much emphasis on a Ward victory over a former Calzaghe victim.

Well, it doesn't seem to be rated very highly here, so probably not.

He should get credit for longevity but obviously his standard of apposition leaves a lot to be desired. He'll get into the HOF (deservedly) but last nights result hurts his legacy.

No - imagine Calzaghe WITH headbutts. He would have been GOAT.

Calzaghe defeated Kessler 2 years ago and didn`t have to resort to using his head as a battering ram unlike the cheating yank last nite. Back to the drawing board for you. :hi:

Bit soon for objective answers. Some may feel a need to attack or defend at this point.

I really really think that Calzaghe had an unfinished business with Hopkins.

I kinda suspect Ward of loaing his gloves. Yeah, I've said it. Showtime just couldn't have an American losing that fight.

No. There were'nt many big names during Calzaghe's reign. Smart people kno JC was quality.
Ward - Kessler? Styles make fights.
A prime Calzaghe beats any current SMW IMO.
