He was either in it, or a tad bit over the hill when losing to Pea. I mean, physically it didnt seem like he lost much watching that fight, but i do remember him following Pea, doing a horrible job at cutting the ring off...

Pea was damn near impossible to fully cut the ring off against. This is no knock against JCC. JCC was close enough to prime and wasn't shot by any means.

not even close. Chavez prime was in the mid to late 80's.

He was coming off wins over haugen and camacho and he completely schooled both of them.

    No.

He wasn't prime, but still good enough to be considered the best.

Whitaker was better before, at lower weight classes than he was in 1993 at WW, as well.

NO.. Honestly Whitaker was well known for waiting for Chavez to lose a step.

    Mayweather JCC will beat Pea

No, JCC was past his prime and in a weight class he didn't belong, he would weight under the limit for his welterweight fights on fight night.

A few months later he gets his first loss to Randall that marks the definite obvious decline of his physical abilities

either way, no version of chavez could beat whittaker. he just wasn't fast enough. ever. even at his prime, he was far too plodding.

Chavez and Whitaker were both past their absolute peaks, maybe Chavez a little bit more than Whitaker, but both were still at that point the best in the world p4p.

It wasn't like DLH-Mayweather or anything like that.

But you forget that Nelson wasnt in his peak prime either..I see his prime window as 84 to 88. That was a close fight..

Truthfully I think Azumah was better than Sanchez..and had there been a rematch he would have prevailed
