Conteh had the best lead hand of any British fighter that I`ve seen, surely he`s a candidate for the greatest British fighter P4P in history, where should he be placed in the Top 5 out of every British world champ?

Not unless he changed his name to Jimmy Wilde.

I have a hard time thinking he would be top 10 and 15 might be a stretch? I like him but not sure he can crack a top 5 list at all? But then I have never done an all British list

A very gifted fighter who had an excellent career but greatest British fighter ever? He has no claim. I like him and think his style was very nice to watch.

In no way can he possibly rank ahead of Jimmy Wilde, Freddie Welsh, Bob Fitzsimmons (if he counts as British), Ted Lewis, Jack Berg, Joe Calzaghe, Jim Driscoll, Lennox Lewis, Ken Buchanan, Benny Lynch to name but a few.

Conteh would be top 20 Id imagine but closer to 20 than 10.

Buchanan and Conteh had far more skill than Lennox did in their resective weight classes. I don`t feel Calzaghe`s career was that much better than Conteh`s in terms of opposition, I would loved to have seen Kessler v Conteh, I suppose the first loss to Saad has hurt Conteh`s legacy, the second fight wasn`t the real Conteh at all.

What list? If you read my post you would have read “I have never done an all British list”. I can think of names off of the top of my head....

But ChrisJS has done a good enough job that I don’t need to. Conteh was great but not necessarily top 10 great imo

I’d have to squeeze Owen Moran into a top 15.

Hatton did better against Floyd than Hamed would have, Naz could have fought Floyd at super feather but would have been schooled.

He was a charismatic fighter and a good boxer but kind of over rated by many .. very good, yes. Great, no.
