Was Cotto 'Drained' or 'Dehyrdrated' when fighting Pacquiao?

Lets decide this with a poll once and for all. Many posters on here are now beginning to claim that cotto was dehydrated or drained for the fight with pacquiao. They base their opinion on the opinions of others who claim to have witnessed cotto weigh in at other fights and in their estimation, miguel looked more drained at the pacquiao weigh in.

The following are a list of factors i look for when deciding without fight night weights when a fighter may be weight drained:

-Ability to respond to punishment - This is particularly relevant to cotto, because as we all know cotto was being rocked badly and often at 140. In the pacquiao fight cotto took an absurd amount of punishment and clearly he was able to finish the fight standing.

-Stamina later in the fight - Cotto was still boxing on his toes in the closing stanzas indicating that he was not sluggish or fatigued by the pace of the fight, a pace only rivalled for him in the margarito fight.

-Performance of a fighter in comparison to his performance in other fights - Cotto looked just as good in the pacquiao fight as he did in the judah fight, the early stages of the margarito fight, the mosley fight and many others. He was making manny miss. He was countering manny hard. And Cotto was in the fight and winning signficant portions of the fight. Drained fighters tend to be slowed down by a hectic pace or are unable to react to punch sequences quickly enough to be in the fight.

I wont include factors such as it clearly being evident on the fight that cotto was bigger than manny when they stood side by side to touch gloves as i dont want to be drawn into a debate as to what others saw.

Please vote and put this bull**** to bed before this myth of cotto being drained turns into a fact which becomes thrown about to lessen the victory a True ATG and takes away from a great performance by a worthy challenger in Miguel Cotto.

There was a post on here that said there was a clause in the contract that Cotto was not allowed to weigh more than 147 or 149lbs on fight night? You never know in this sport, so if that's true then of course he was drained!

However, I can't see Cotto agreeing to such a stipulation as he simply could not have lasted as long as he did!

Can anyone confirm either way on this, please?

Cotto weighed in at 1lb less against Manny, than he did against Clottey.

    1 ****ing lb.

There is NO WAY he was 'drained' or 'dehyrdrated'.

That is more nonesense alluded to by Ron Fraizer in one of his boxing articles. He sort of mentioned it in a passing reference which indicates that he was bullshitting. This is what i mean when i say the cotto being drained myth is being turned into fact. Your absolutely right when you say such a stipulation would not have permitted cotto to last as long as he did.

No. He looked as healthy as ever at the weigh-in.

I think we should take this fact and leave it at that. End of. Course he wasn't drained. Manny outclassed him.

the "weight drained" excuses are starting to get somewhat old. if you know you will have trouble making the weight or re-hydrating why take the fight at that weight? if cotto signed a contract that said he could not rehydrate before the fight then he is an absolute idiot that deserved a beating.

Ha , i love Cotto . was he weight drained ? maybe a little , just having a late weigh in prolly pushed him a little .But no excuses unless the weight problem caused a mental break down . and allowed him to think he could abandon boxing and go in and knock out a great fighter (one who really does we in exchanges ) with out puttin in the work! .

He lost to the #1 or # 2 guy in the sport, depending on who you ask. There's no shame in that. If weight was an issue i'm sure he would have said so.

He was dehydrated and mentally damaged from Margarito fight.
