ill put it this way if 145 was not a problem then why not 147. the catch weight did more harm then good i think for cotto.
i once read roger mayweather said the reason hatton was ko'd the way he was against pac was because he was only allowed to gain 5lbs after the initial weigh in. i forget which sanctioning body...but in an effort to keep the weight disparity in check on fight night...one of them only allows the fighters to gain 10lbs from the initial weigh in to fight night. looking at most of pacs high profile fights against fighters much bigger than him, i wondered if some sort of weight stipulation was placed on his opponents. i know there are other factors involved...such as most of the guys coming off of bad losses, i.e. cotto, shane, margarito....and some being weight drained...dlh, cotto, hatton, margarito, clottey?...some having trainer issues...cotto, dlh, clottey, margarito...but if u look at the fighters in the ring with him on fight night, u can't help but notice some don't really look much bigger than him. cotto, shane, clottey and hatton all come to mind. cotto looked flat, as did shane and clottey...clottey claimed he had diarrhea the night before the fight. he's someone that typically rehydrates to 160 and above. margarito was trying to hydrate right before he stepped into the ring with pac. was he making a statement? on the flipside, look at the guys that didn't have to lose weight to fight him....jmm and bradley. neither guy was seriously hurt....both beat him imo. i've never bought into the p.e.d thing with him...i think it's a combination of selective matchmaking and weight restrictions/stipulations. of course this is all speculation on my side and we may never know the truth about these things. i think the evidence is out there. maybe one of these web guys can look into this deeper since none of the web "journalists" ever question these kinds of things.
No. In the lead up to the fight and on the night of fight, he was ok. He only became weight-drained two years later.
Yeah, sure you did. He did it for Osca too, didn't he? And Marg, I heard. Whereas Unca' Roger's nephew would never ask for anything like that. No sir. Winky Wright will tell ya' :deal
i did...and i know i quoted it at another website and even made a thread about it. guess what happened to that thread...and the article i read? they disappeared. u know why? because that website has very close ties to toprank and bob arum and because they have these things called 'non-disclosure contractual stipulations.' u know what that means? that means that u sign an agreement not to admit to what it is u are doing/agreeing to. why would they do that? to protect the myth. how do i know that exists? because i've signed one myself. this isn't a thread about rogers nephew...but feel free to deflect and create a new thread.
thanks. that really makes me happy. i need the approval of some anonymous fanboy to make my opinion matter. i don't give a **** if u believe me or not.
Don't think he was. But I do think he was at his best. He wasn't training the proper way. Has gotten better under the new trainer but I still don't think he is training like he is supposed to. He is getting comfortable and just collecting money before retiring
